Legba Posted February 11, 2012 THE Geelong teacher on leave after filming an online pornographic movie with a former student is selling sex herbs and legal "smoking alternatives" in the city's main street. The man and his 23-year-old former student, who is now his live-in girlfriend, opened a shop called Happy High Herbs three weeks ago, with a brochure promoting "horny herbs" and "smoke for relaxation". Belching Posted February 11, 2012 What a crock of a news story. Man has consensual sex with someone of legal age, someone who he no longer has any professional connection to. SCANDAL. The guy's also setting up a business so that he has some income when he leaves teaching. OUTRAGE. I'm clutching my pearls and I hope you are too!!
dionysus Posted February 11, 2012 (edited) this guy used to be my teacher, andt he girl in question was a student at the school at the same time as me. he was always popular with the female students, i am not surprised after one (known of) completed their education they slept with him. i was under the impretion filming a pornographic video in the state of VIC is a criminal offence though, which seems to be the least of the newspapers concerns. his new shop though has been getting a LOT of business, makes me wonder if he sacrificed his teaching job for advertising his horny goat weed. all i know is, the smell of burning damiana and catniip has overpowered the smell of diesel in the main strip mall. edit: i'd like to add that this guy was also a good teacher, he understood what he was teaching us and managed to make it more enjoyable than the average 60 year old battleaxe that teaches. if i had kids, someone willing to accept and experiment with basic ethnobotany to the point of opening a store and having a healthy social/sex life is the exact sort of person i would want to be teaching them. i was expelled from that school at one stage for having smoked a little bit of cannabis, perhaps if he had something to do with it i would have recieved a fuller formal education and made it to university. Psylo Posted February 11, 2012 The guy's also setting up a business so that he has some income when he leaves teaching. OUTRAGE. He would be operating a franchise. The article fails to recognise that detail. I wonder if he is polynesian ? I would be calling controversy on a white man with a tribal tattoo, instead of dissecting his desire to fuck his ex-student. dionysus Posted February 12, 2012 psylo, he is a white dude. i agree that people getting tribal tattoos when they have no affiliation to tribal culture is silly, but the actual act of tattooing as we know it today (tatau) is tribal and i am covered in tats so that would be hypocritical. plus, if a news article actualy did publish something like that imagine all the white people they would offend. wouldnt want to offend any white people... Distracted Posted February 12, 2012 Where do you draw the line at accepting another's culture into your own? Is it the language? The customs? The food? or simply the tattoos?
sapito Posted February 12, 2012 Yeah its funny that many things from other cultures are adopting without a thought but certain things seems to be considered not right to be adopted. Tattoos being one that is commonly talked about. Its strange
Psylo Posted February 12, 2012 caucasians are plaigaristic opportunists when it comes to cultural expression. Sorry if that offends any of you honkies
dionysus Posted February 12, 2012 take thai sak yant for example, their magic bhudist tattoos. they specifically do not contain any power on a non dedicated person who takes intoxicants, and many westerners go their pissed as a goose and come home with some fancy sanskrit on their arm. food and language is for every one, tribal tattoos are for specific requisites that most white people dont fulfill.
sapito Posted February 12, 2012 But things evolve and change. White culture isnt the only culture to misappropriate other cultural traditions. This is not a new thing. Cultural exchange has been happening since forever. Life would be so miserable if I had to eat only food that people of my heritage ate or if technology only stayed in the country or cultural that invented it. What a shit life

Distracted Posted February 12, 2012 Are you simply trying to be insulting or is there some kind of point? I'm all about learning but it seems you're talking at me rather than to me. <-- whitey with no tats in order to help hide his identity, i've also had long rants about how I think australians with tribal tattoos are ridiculous... I just don't understand why I should think that.

dionysus Posted February 12, 2012 i never said i opposed the sharing of culture, just that often it seems inapropriate, especialy when it becomes a trend for bogan types. i should add i am white, i eat curries and listen to people play the tar, i have a tattoo of the huichol deer so i am a hypocrite. maybe it is our white man guilt of our history of culture theft lol

Distracted Posted February 13, 2012 Who fucking cares if he's using indigenous art. We are an exploitative generation in all matters, and selective sensitivity is unwarranted. I wonder what hindu theologians think of all those filthy hippies appropriating the Aum syllable ? Just quoting a month old post I just read for shits and giggles. dionysus Posted February 13, 2012 http://www.realbollywood.com/2011/01/brandy-norwoods-lord-ganesh-tattoo-starts-fad-hindu-tattoos.html apparently, they are happy for people to have hindu/sanscrit tattoos as long as they are also researching and respecting hindu culture and the significance/appropriate spelling of the text.
