Aubergine Posted February 5, 2012 Hiya guys. In the process of trying to change the green desert (lawn) behind our apartment block into a mixed garden of edibles, herbs and medicinal plants. Was wondering if anyone has any suggestions for some medicinal / edible plants that would grow well in a shady though well drained corner of the yard? Already considering mint, ginger and possibly some mushrooms. Any others that might fair well? Cheers.

Darklight Posted February 5, 2012 Wasabi if it's a cool spot with about 70% shade You may never get roots for wasabi paste, but the leaves make for excellent winter greens in salads. Likes it cold and damp
curaezipirid Posted February 5, 2012 (edited) Aloe Vera is the obvious thought, . . . it is used in Chinese Medicine for enabling the darker skin genetics to be prominent in future generations and also contains the stronger of two active ingredients in most sunscreens that have been selling here in Australia but is also, (especially in contact with very much sunlight), a carcenogen if in use too often However its ooze works instead of sunscreen, sort of by making the body want to be in the shade, if the body is sensitive to knowing what to avoid to avoid cancerS:- sort of exaggerates that fear in the conscious mind, to apply it to the skin. Aloe vera jelly in a milkshake (A2 milk) with banana and spinach is good to stimulate the liver into keeping the mind-body relationships safer in strong sunlight also.
