Thanks in advance, Seanimus

tarenna Posted August 22, 2011 That doesn't look much like the nexus that I know.... Does it have milky sap? Is it a member of the Family Apocynaceae?
seanimus Posted August 22, 2011 hey no milky sap that I seen, I got it from herbalisitics so I'm confident it's Pyschotria nexus and I think its the rubiaceae family?
Marcel Posted August 22, 2011 Dude, I've got a couple of Herbalistics Nexus plants, and a few other Psychotria plants, and I'm afraid yours isn't anything like them. That's definitely a Banisteriopsis caapi, aka Ayahuasca vine, and judging by those wavy margins, I'd say it's a 'Nuevo Ola' variety (which Herbalistics sells). Did you order a B. caapi at the same time as the Nexus? Perhaps Darren got the labels switched. Maybe you have another plant labeled 'B caapi' plant, which is actually a Nexus? seanimus Posted August 22, 2011 I think I'll put my head back in my khyber pass.Yes that is what happened and here is a pic of the Nexus, what I stupidly thought was my caapi but must be my nexus which to needs help! Bloody gardening noobs (me) think they no everything, my apologies tarenna! I was expecting more growth from the nexus than the caapi over the winter for some reason, when I first got them the labels had come out and I had it right at first and then doubted myself and didnt want to look like a dumbass by asking (oops to late ) I think its time for more reading and learing thanks for the help guys
Justler Posted August 23, 2011 Haha, I was about to say, that nexus looks kinda caapi like. My caapi appears to have the same concerns, though it's smaller. Old growth appears fine (as with yours) and newer growth appears to slump over and be dying off. Your real nexus looks quite healthy to me, though I too still consider myself a n00b. The browning at the end of the older leaf tips is something my little nexy and psychotria also suffer from. Would love to know what causes it.
