Is this a Pachanoi?

Question

Hey guys, at the risk of revealing my naivety it would be cool to get confirmation of id on this 2ex3k9z.jpg

which i found today while out at bunnings

if it is a pachanoi, is it reasonable to assume it's been treated with a pestacide or other nasties?

Could be a pach, scop or hybrid(super pedro/lance). Hard to tell from that pic. Whatever it is probably has had something sprayed on it from bunnings. Large herbivores wont be munching on it for years anyways, it's only a baby. Have to let em grow up

What makes you guys say scop? I would've said it's PC pach, but I wouldn't bet anything on it at that size.

Yeah I've got a scop, they are lovely cacti. Nothing to be ashamed of haha.

Ballzac, young scops are very different to mature scops. The club-shape and spination is a giveaway, as well as the darker green colour.

I've grown a batch of scop from seed before and that is what the seedlings looked like.

They have longer spines when smaller or even when pruned often.

Interesting. I gotta admit I'm not that great at ID'ing babies. I think I've seen those in the combo pots at bunnings and just assumed it was a pachanoi. I'll have to take a bit of a closer look next time I'm there.
