Seldom Posted July 14, 2011 (edited) Hey guys, at the risk of revealing my naivety it would be cool to get confirmation of id on this which i found today while out at bunnings if it is a pachanoi, is it reasonable to assume it's been treated with a pestacide or other nasties? 0 Bretloth Posted July 14, 2011 Could be a pach, scop or hybrid(super pedro/lance). Hard to tell from that pic. Whatever it is probably has had something sprayed on it from bunnings. Large herbivores wont be munching on it for years anyways, it's only a baby. Have to let em grow up
0 Gunter Posted July 15, 2011 looks like a scop to me, a young one
0 Khala Posted July 15, 2011 Definite scop, no doubts.
0 Evil Genius Posted July 15, 2011 Ill split this ID Topic into a seperate thread because it has actually nothing to do with how to recognize a Pachanoi. bye Eg
0 ballzac Posted July 17, 2011 What makes you guys say scop? I would've said it's PC pach, but I wouldn't bet anything on it at that size.
0 Seldom Posted July 17, 2011 bahh don't say that! it's literally only cactus i've ever owned, sept 2 i just ordered from egad so yeah. dont judge. it's not lame to me
0 ballzac Posted July 17, 2011 Huh? Who said it's lame? Looks like a nice little cactus to me
0 Khala Posted July 17, 2011 Yeah I've got a scop, they are lovely cacti. Nothing to be ashamed of haha. Ballzac, young scops are very different to mature scops. The club-shape and spination is a giveaway, as well as the darker green colour.
0 Gunter Posted July 17, 2011 I've grown a batch of scop from seed before and that is what the seedlings looked like. They have longer spines when smaller or even when pruned often.
0 ballzac Posted July 17, 2011 Interesting. I gotta admit I'm not that great at ID'ing babies. I think I've seen those in the combo pots at bunnings and just assumed it was a pachanoi. I'll have to take a bit of a closer look next time I'm there.
