Holy crap. That's full on. It's bad enough that dancing is illegal, but the brutal manner with which they carried out the arrests is unbelievable. It's amazing that they were willing to do that while being filmed. It's a sad indictment on the state of America when police officers know that they can get away with that sort of thing on camera. According to wikipedia, "an investigation has been launched into whether excessive force was used by the arresting officers", but we all know how these 'investigations' end.

bahrainprotest-300x199.jpgConsidering Hillary Clinton's ties.....

The British Ministry of Defense (MoD) confirmed last week that U.K troops may have trained Saudi Arabia's national guard before they were used to help crush civil rights protests in Bahrain.

Documents obtained by The Observer under Britain's Freedom of Information Act revealed that British forces regularly instructed the Saudi national guard in "weapons, fieldcraft and general military skills training, as well as incident handling, bomb disposal, search, public order and sniper training."

"All BMM personnel, as well as support costs such as accommodation and transport" was paid for by Saudi Arabia, according to the documents. Up to 20 teams a year are sent to the kingdom.

In March, 1,200 Saudi troops entered Bahrain to help quell demonstrations. The Sunni Saudi royal family was reportedly worried that the Shiite majority in Bahrain could gain control there.

While the U.K. said it was "deeply concerned" about human rights abuses by Saudi troops, the U.S. denied that the operation amounted to an occupation.

"Britain's important role in training the Saudi Arabian national guard in internal security over many years has enabled them to develop tactics to help suppress the popular uprising in Bahrain," the Campaign Against Arms Trade's Nicholas Gilby told The Observer.

"Last year we raised concerns that the Saudis had been using UK-supplied and UK-maintained arms in secret attacks in Yemen that left scores of Yemeni civilians dead," Amnesty International's U.K. Arms Programme director Oliver Sprague said.

"We need a far more rigorous case-by-case examination of the human rights records of those who want to buy our equipment or receive training," he added.

Additional Freedom of Information Act responses obtained by The Independent indicated that Britain also trained Bahraini army officers. That training continued even after the Bahraini royal family began to use the military to crush protests.

"All overseas requests for defense training are considered on a case-by-case basis and it would not be provided if we thought such training would lead to human rights abuses," an MoD spokesman said. "Indeed, providing training to the same high standards used by UK armed forces helps to save lives and raise awareness of human rights."

At least 29 people have died in demonstrations in Bahrain since February. Hundreds more have been injured.

It seems Phoenix has a bad COP reputation for brutality too...

" PHOENIX (CN) - After Tasering, kicking and hitting a man in the head with flashlights while calling him a "wetback," Phoenix police officers falsely accused him of assaulting them and running away, but the man can't fight or run at all because he is paralyzed on one side of his body from childhood polio, he says in a civil rights complaint.

Refugio Rodriquez sued the city, Maricopa County, Maricopa County Correctional Health Services and the three Phoenix police officers he says assaulted him in the parking lot of a church.

Rodriquez, whom the officers accused of aggravated assault against a police officer after they Tasered, kicked and hit beat him with police-issued flashlights, says he could not have assaulted the officers or run because the left side of his body is paralyzed from polio.

Rodriquez the three officers - Tedesco, Mills and Neidenbach - approached him outside of a church on May 27, 2010.

They told him "you better not run you (expletive) wetback" and then slammed him onto the concrete driveway "in a manner which obviously exceeded the minimal amount of force necessary to accomplish a lawful purpose and continued to brutally assault plaintiff Refugio in the driveway," according to the complaint in Maricopa County Court.

After they needlessly Tasered him, they handcuffed him and continued to kick and hit him in the head "with their police-issued long flashlight," the complaint states.

The officers stopped beating him after his wife, Josephine, and his two children "screamed at and pled with the defendant officers to stop the beating," according to the complaint. The officers told the wife and kids to "stay across the street or that they would be 'in trouble.'"

Rodriquez, who is 5 feet 5 inches tall and weighs 140 lbs., says the officers did not let his family see him after they beat him, "to cover up Refugio's bruises, scrapes and severe swelling of the head."

The officers told his wife and children "that there was nothing wrong with Refugio and that he was 'the same as when he left home awhile ago,'" the complaint states.

But at the Maryvale police station, one of his assailants asked him, "'What's the matter, you can't take an ass-whipping?'" Rodriquez says.

Rodriquez says the officers lied in their police report: that they wrote that he "ran from the officers when they first came into contact ... which is totally impossible because plaintiff cannot run due to the paralysis on the whole left side of his body since his birth with polio."

The officers "lied so they could try to cover up more lies" by claiming he had resisted and fought them, and by charging him with aggravated assault on a police officer, according to the complaint.

Rodriquez says he was taken from the Maryvale police precinct to the Maricopa County Fourth Avenue Jail, where the intake nurse told him "he was going to be transported to the nearest hospital emergency room via an ambulance because of the severity of his injuries."

But a few minutes later the intake nurse told him that "if she sent him to the hospital emergency, she was told she would lose her job."

After Rodriquez was released on bail, his wife took him to St. Joseph's Hospital, where the emergency doctor told him that "he could have died because a blood clot near his brain was beginning to develop," the complaint states.

Rodriquez and his wife seek punitive damages and medical expenses for assault, battery, negligence, and civil rights violations. The complaint does not list the three officers' first names, but it does include their badge numbers.

The Rodriquezes are represented by Jimmy Borunda."

WASHINGTON, D.C – A man in a wheelchair was slammed to the ground by two Metro Transit Police Officers late last week. The incident was caught on tape by a bystander who uploaded the video to the Internet. "Get on the ground!" one of the officers yells as the officers lift him from the wheelchair and slam him face first to the ground.

The Metro Transit Police claim the man suddenly stood, then fell.
