Zen Peddler Posted May 9, 2011 ive been told to freeze them or slice them and boil before storing. Any one know?
NSF Posted May 10, 2011 I've heard drying is the way to go also. They can later be used as a C grade bolete in food. Apparently much better dried than fresh.
Marcel Posted May 10, 2011 I just gave away a jar of dried slipperies the other day. 1. Dry until cracker dry (drier/oven under 75 degrees/desiccant chamber). 2. Use old jar with air-tight lid (you know that white gummy stuff on the inside of the lid?). 3. Fill as full as you can (use smaller jar if you don't have much). 4. Throw in some desiccant and anti-oxygen pouches (Spotlight has them pretty cheap, as do numerous vendors on ebay). 5. Close that puppy up.
Zen Peddler Posted May 11, 2011 should i freeze or just keep them in the cupboard?
Marcel Posted May 11, 2011 Dark cupboard should be fine... I've never tried the freezer. I'd be too worried about moisture from condensation.
