shadowthecastle Posted March 2, 2011 Just wondering if anyone knows the laws regarding this cacti in Australia. Can it be sent from overseas? Or are there any suppliers here? As it contains no mescaline is it still classed a Scheduled plant. Any help would be great!

shadowthecastle Posted March 2, 2011 By permitted, is that restrictive to only nurseries? Or if someone was to order to a residential address would it disposed of?
tripsis Posted March 2, 2011 (edited) If you order seeds, they will need a CITES permit. If you order plants, you will need both a CITES permit and an AQIS permit. Additional to that, they will need to go into an AQIS-approved quarantine facility for around 6 - 9 months, of which every day you will pay for. It has been said to me by an AQIS officer that you either need to be a commercial operation or a very dedicated enthusiast to be able to afford the rates they charge. If you are willing to get the permits, pay the money and wait for the plants to pass the quarantine period, you can get plants sent to a residential address with no problems. Edit: check the AQIS's ICON website for all the details of anything you are interested in importing. Edited March 2, 2011 by tripsis
zelly Posted March 3, 2011 Its been my experience that private parties can send other private parties any seeds they want to as long as those seeds are 1) identified as permitted in the AQIS ICON database AND 2) they are listed as such on the customs declaration forms. Shipping & quarantine generally takes 10-14 days.
