migraineur Posted February 21, 2011 Hey guys, Bugs have been chewing holes in the veggies that I planted and I don't want them attacking the caapi and other ethno plants I have. Could anyone recommend a decent pest spray that I could get easily enough from a place like Bunnings etc?
gogogadget Posted February 21, 2011 (edited) i've bookmarked this little gem, have a great day. just remember to try them on perhaps a different plant or a single leaf to start with.... Edited February 21, 2011 by gogogadget
ThunderIdeal Posted February 21, 2011 i know you might take this to be a fairly terrible response, but it sounds like you need to learn a bit more about plant pests and how to deal with them. just being straight with you. "bugs are eating plants A and i don't want them eating plants B, what's a spray i can use?" is a very simple approach. have you identified what is chewing the leaves eg grasshoppers, snails? are there any sapsuckers on the plants (scales, aphids, thrips) in addition to the chewers? can you see ants all over any plants? (ants are often a good indicator of sapsuckers, there is a symbiosis there).
migraineur Posted February 21, 2011 I am not sure what is eating them. I inspected the plants and could not find any bugs on them such as aphids etc nor could I see any trace of snails. All I can see is holes in the leafs which is pissing me off.

gogogadget Posted February 21, 2011 or coriander spray equal amounts coriander and water strained, works with aphids for me, sometimes add a cap of oil, shake and spray.
planthelper Posted February 22, 2011 generaly, we don't recommand using any non organic pest sprays on ethnos. if the holes have rounded edges it's maybe snails. grasshoppers leave rather jagged edges on the leaves. could be catarpillars aswell.... dipel is a product you can use if it's absolutely necessary, but it's much better to look for the pest and to manualy remove it, or to move the plant to a saver location. if only parts of the plant get eaten than i would not worry about it at all, just be happy you share a bit of the plant with another creature, hehehe. only if a plant is in danger of dying than you use pest sprays.
