Sola Posted November 13, 2010 I found this mushroom on a walk, it was on the flat just near a river course. Sort of looked like a short stubby black tongue poking out of the ground. Not particularly large, 50c piece size. Also an interesting small mushroom found on cow dung. Thanks Sola
0 Distracted Posted November 13, 2010 (edited) OMG focus fail >.< could the black one be a mature puffball about to release it's spores? Did you poke it or pick it up? Puffballs at that stage will release a horrible brown sporous powder after they've dried up. The little cow dung one could be a psilocybe but probably not because the gills look too dark... but who knows? Chances are it's a boring TBM edit: btw, i'm not an experienced identifier of random mushrooms, so take what I say with a grain of salt Edited November 13, 2010 by Distracted
0 Rabaelthazar Posted November 13, 2010 Chances are it's a boring TBM Hmmm... looks a little small and not quite green enough to be a TBM.... possibly a LBM?
0 Distracted Posted November 13, 2010 Hmmm... looks a little small and not quite green enough to be a TBM.... possibly a LBM? hmmm yeah for some reason I thought it was TBM, Terrestrial Brown Mushroom but now I can't find anywhere that uses that term :/ No idea where I picked it up from

0 Sola Posted December 8, 2010 It definitely wasn't a puffball as there are heaps of them here and I'm pretty familiar with them. I didn't want to pick it as it's the only one I've ever seen.
0 Lord Mayonnaise Posted March 28, 2011 The red one is a Laccaria sp. The gills and cap should have a somewhat waxy feel.
