Seems like taquimbalensis alright so far, but it's still youngish, we'll see amazing pupping from myrti breast. they haven't done this for me so far pachanoi monstrosa an official first, scop budding. never had trichocerei flowering for me, and understandable so, as I have chopped them up for propagation relentlessly. RocketeerJim Posted May 17, 2011 (edited) I'm not sure which is more impressive . . . your skill as a gardener or your skill as a macro-photographer. Simply breathtaking. Pity I do not recognize most of your plants, but well done! Edited May 17, 2011 by RocketeerJim
Ambient Posted May 20, 2011 Awesome garden Mutant, nice to see another monstrose myrtillocactus around I've only had mine a few months, just managed to get it rooted in before this winter. HopefullyI'll manage to find myself a crested var before next growing season Peace. Ngx285
mutant Posted May 21, 2011 (edited) Thanks I wanna find a crest too! I have my breast myrti for 1,5 year and have cut it twice so I got 3 small plants not one big. It's the only time it pupped so heavily [last photo]. I like breasts and I like monstrosa and I like Myrtillocactus geometrizans so... this is one to have in many 'copies' for me ! 'Rahli', lw from seed, grafted on selinicereus T.pasacana grafted on pere and sent to me as gift from awesome member Philocacti T.terscheckii, grafted on pere by me at least 2 ~ 2,5 years ago. It used to grow pretty slowly, as it wasn't the best graft ever, but I believe it established the union. Hope to be rooting at the end of the season... mutant Posted August 17, 2011 (edited) cheers guys, thank you so much a great part of inspiration and trigger for me getting to know shit about growing plants or direct [some times original and advanced] knowledge has come from this very site. the very inspiration to get into cacti came from the kk339 pachanoi seedling you sent me, incognito, so respect is due mate! I never had 'the hands' to masterfully do stuff with the hands. The same way I had to learn to roll proper joints, the same way, I learnt [and am still learning] to graft. I don't have the 'steady hand', even if my hands have a good sense of rhythm. The same way, the 'hard' and individual one, I had to develop a sense of orientation so as not to get lost in the woods when picking mushrooms , a sense I didn't have like some people inherently have. Learning yourself is the path of direct experience. No crap from experts and medians . Re-inventing the wheel has been my way. Paying all the respect to the philosophers that said this or that is due, but I never philosophised by reading philosophy books. I dont like philosophy books - I find them boring. I like to do it myself. Doing a technical thing is another thing, just because it's technical, but doing it yourself is the best way of archiving knowledge about it. which come to plants and gardening. I am not being arrogant. I just dont think I am that good at grafting. I acknowledge everyone who affected me or taught me stuff about gardening. From my parents, who, especially my father was deeply interested, and still is, in plants and nature in general, to the plantlover in this or some other board. Cacti grafting is very easy. f.e. I always encourage people to try different stocks. I find it fascinating anyway as every cacti can bond with another. The combinations and possibilies are endless! Everyone says how myrtillocactus is a great stock. I don't use it so much, but I love to grow it alone. Few people, especially in the ethno community, pay attention to selinicereus. I find it is a champion as a grafting stock, with lots of advantages for at least temporary grafting. 3-4 years ago Some friend and mentor, even though he is younger than me, encouraged me to get into cacti in the first year of my getting into ethnobotanicals. I was thrilled by the speed of vines then, still am [growing a herd of 12 turbinas and 2 argyreias from cuttings this year] , but I thought getting to do lots of different stuff will overwhelm me. Besides, I [thought I] didn't like cacti so much! and then that young kk339 came in the mail from incognito that sparked the light. I send you all my positive vibes. It all get through YOU get to know yrself cheers mutantZZ Edited August 17, 2011 by mutant
