Red Ariocarpus fissuratus seedling

Recommended Posts

Hey Guys,

I've been putting down a lot of seed lately. About six months ago i put down some Ariocarpus fissuratus to my surprise one of them is totally red. I've yet to attempt to graft it, but it seems to be growing fine, all new growth is red too. No signs of green.

I do have some Pereskiopsis spathulata ready if need be, what do you guys think?

graft of leave alone?

Graft it for sure, just in case. Though I've observed some seedlings with a higher sensitivity to light going reddish when others in the same tray stayed green.

its pretty common when im starting of arios. not so much retusus, but definately in fissuratus.

id say its not enough light/humidity. my opinion only.

To be honest i'm not experienced enough with these seedlings to say. I put them down in a container culture about six months ago. All the others came up green. This one came up red and stayed that way.

I think i'll graft it and see what happens.

In any case, if you got other seedlings, yeah go for the graft...
