t st tantra Posted August 16, 2009 a few tips....... try to pollenate flowers which have not yet opened.....this gives more time for the pollen to travel up that long tube.... remove all other growth from around the flower.....this seems to get all the plant energy going into the bud.....make it a terminal if you can..... t s t . t st tantra Posted August 16, 2009 one flower gives one pod......the flower ovary turns into the pod.....often its up to 100 hand pollinations to get one success! the tips above improve these odds greatly. there are 2 groups of brugs that can be crossed together. one group is sanguinea,arborea and vulcanicola. all the rest are in the other group. the first group will not cross with the second[and visa versa]. your second q you must answer yourself.....i wouldnt even ask it......... t s t . t st tantra Posted August 17, 2009 (edited) double white is almost 100% going to be brugmansia X[cross] candida.......which basically means its a cross in the second group.crosses in the first group are called brugmansia X flava. so your plant should not cross with sanguinea. the double white is one of the hardest to get fruit from,low success rate.....also the fruit are very small and the seed often of poor quality! where did you get your plant? t s t . t st tantra Posted August 20, 2009 most likely all clones,so will not self pollenate.they in the ground? if the other one is in the second group it should be easy to grow from cuttings. grab some pieces about a foot long....try to take them when they are not flowering,maybe just as a flush is finishing......put in about 2 inches of water,no more or they might rot....if you get this far i'll go on......ok? t s t . t st tantra Posted August 20, 2009 they wont pollinate each other! those ones grow quite easy from cuttings.......the bigger the better.....try to get brown wood on the bottom of the cutting........remove all large leaves and soft green tips and esp flowering tips......place in about 6 to 8 cm of clean water......change water every week.......once there are roots about 6 to 8 cm long it can be potted up with fertilizer.time to root varies with temperature. if you have lots of cuttings,get a large pot of good soil and just stick it full of cuttings.water and wait. t s t .
