Teotzlcoatl Posted February 3, 2009 All look like Cereus except the one in the last two pictures which appears to be Trichocereus.
mac Posted February 3, 2009 i thought the last one looked a little like huanucoensis but im crap at ID's
Teotzlcoatl Posted February 3, 2009 The one in the last two pictures may even be "Blue Myrtle" cactus. I'd cut it off and stick it in a pot. Get a better picture of that one too.
mutant Posted February 4, 2009 Those last blue tipped look a lot like myrtillocactus...
kakti Posted February 5, 2009 (edited) First and second look like some type of Stenocereus. Third is probably Myrtillocactus geometrizans. Edited February 5, 2009 by kakti
mac Posted February 5, 2009 (edited) The tallest of the first two is well over 5 foot tall, it was much bigger until some prick jumped the fence & cut the top off as you see its only growing in a shallow tub Shorter of the two is a nice fat looking cactus id love one of the smaller pups to put in the ground & see how big it would grow. But the last one was a interesting the short spines (almost spineless) & look caught my eye The lady said she had never had a cactus like it before it just popped up in the middle of one she has had for many years Teotz'I'd cut it off and stick it in a pot. not my cactus & even if it was i doubt i could bring myself to cutting it, it must be a seed that has somehow remained dormant over many years ? hard to say where it came from, she did give me a pup from this one so it will be interesting to grow & further & see if it fruits here are a couple of the cuttings i got while i was there, The first was the one the suspected Myrtillocactus came up in so it was a little hard to get in & get a better pic because it was surrounded by big ass spines This bloke she affectionately calls killer its funny how happy she was to find someone else interested in cacti, i happily went home with several pups & cuttings i did not have to ask for Edited February 5, 2009 by mac
mac Posted February 5, 2009 (edited) thanks for the help everyone it gave me somewhere to start my search so far i have tried to get a better idea of ID's & have come up with this from species mentioned in this thread & reference pictures online & have come up with these links the first one http://i686.photobucket.com/albums/vv228/mac440/DSCF0003.jpg going from a old reference pic of spines only it could be Stenocereus weberi synonym of Pachycereus weberi (Cardón Espinoso, Candelabro) http://www.desert-tropicals.com/Plants/Cac...eus_weberi.html or guess #2 Stenocereus pruinosus (Gray Ghost Organ Pipe, Pitayo) http://www.desert-tropicals.com/Plants/Cac..._pruinosus.html the second one http://i686.photobucket.com/albums/vv228/mac440/DSCF0004.jpg not sure looks a little like Stenocereus thurberi ( Pitahaya Dulce) http://www.desert-tropicals.com/Plants/Cac...s_thurberi.html but i could be way off on this one the last one looks very much like a Myrtillocactus geometrizans http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Myrtillocactus_geometrizans Edited February 5, 2009 by mac
