~shameless~ Posted November 27, 2008 Hey people Could'nt help myself but let go of a bit of cash for this one, I brought it at a cactus specialist nursery, but cacti with that real peruvian look are hard to come by down this way I was disscussing with my pals though just how spiny it looks!! its different to most others i'v seen on the web. Does anyone know of a possible variety? anybody got something similar thats "named" ? Its 40cm high bye for now

0 PD. Posted November 27, 2008 anybody got something similar thats "named" ? Well its only named in my collection , J1, havent got this one out as yet and ill find it hard to let go of, do have LOTS of hybrid seedlings of it tho, J1 x pach. I recieved something similar form a SAu collection still hard to be sure if same clone, only time will tell i guess! Here are some pics of the motherplant which looks a hell of alot differnt to cuttings i have. Depending on location it is grown it can look widly different to the point you would swear it was another plant altogether. Heavy spination seems to come with age. I really like this peruvi type form but it aint got nuthin on T. rosei!

0 ~shameless~ Posted November 28, 2008 Thanks for the info pd and yeah it was a nice find sharx, if your lucky u may see just the odd PC or bridget at most local nurseries (sth east melb . Its just the spines threw me off, i already have a much bigger more robust cutting on the go but the spines are just so much smaller, but thats not too say they may not get bigger down the track as it grows bigger Its going in the ground tommorow at my folks place, Weekend y'all!! 0 Teotzlcoatl Posted November 28, 2008 That appears to be a fairly nice Trichocereus "True Blue" peruvianus, tho we can't be sure as to how "pure" of a peruvianus it is... It may be a hybrid as stated.
0 kushizm Posted November 29, 2008 Looks very similar to a few of my T peruvianus 'ressler'... Nice pick up!!!

0 egad Posted December 29, 2008 It looks strikingly similar to pachanoi x macrogonus i have in my collection. Though naming it peruvianus seems quite just. I also have another plant that came to me as a macrogonus that looks quite similar. The plants at collectors corner can be quite good at times, if somewhat pricey, being retail and all. I've picked up some good finds from there in the past, and remember seeing a plant similar to this on their shelf a while back, not quite as blue though. A nice change from their previous selection of KK242 looking peruvianus' they generally had for sale. Keep an eye out for their bridgesii, i found a couple of nice ones there earlier in the year too.
