palm frond shade sail?

Recommended Posts

palm fronds never rot, they just go to the tip and sit there forever like plastic.

caravan parks don't have enough shade, not for Darwin sun, so i increased afternoon shade (and morning shade for my neighbour) by stuffing palm fronds into a tree.

this could work on a larger scale and it could work for midday sun, where you are too broke to buy and install shadecloth. that fencing wire which has large squares is probably perfect, just weave it all up on the ground and bang it in the air somehow.

i assume little bits of dirt will fall from it in the wind, but you don't necessarily have to sit under it. it could extend existing shade, make a micro climate not so micro, or make a wall for morning/afternoon soon.

I used palm fronds to acclimatise my plants to full sun. Propped them up against the fence making a shaded area for the plants. Then once a week I moved them around to allow a little more sun through until after a while they were in full sun.
