~shameless~ Posted August 10, 2008 This all i could muster up from a short drive this morning it was too cold too go out for walkies, but yeah, pretty easy to find when its flowering right now
Undergrounder Posted August 10, 2008 i thought it always flowers this time of year. July is when i thought... Anyway yeah the bush across the road from me is practically all longifolia. IDing: Long phyllodes and circular flowers on sticks, pointy tips on leaves, smooth leaf edges.
Alkron Posted August 15, 2008 Nice pics Greenhouse, I find it difficult to differenciate between floribunda, longifolia and sophorae. I think floribunda has thinner leaves/phylodes and sophorae has rounder tipped leaves/phylodes. Has anyone any info on the gland location? Can that be a determining factor ie. top/bottom of phylode. I have seen quite a few around Melbourne too.
~shameless~ Posted August 15, 2008 Thanks alkron, actually looking at some other pics i took of the plant in pic 2 it may be just a large floribunda, actually not may - i'm sure the plant in pic 2 is a floribunda, good spotting!!! i do believe the plant in pic 1, 3, 4 is a longiifolia, thick phyloide costal looking one!!, sophorea may probably be one of longifolias closest matches, very hard to tell apart, almost maybe a subspecies i don't know how to tell them apart though
El Barto Posted September 1, 2008 (edited) hey went out for a bit of a look when i posted this but just got a camera and went to take some pics yesterday im no good with resizing pics they were like 2meg i got em down to 150k but a lil loss of quality i still have 2meg ones if these are not good enough quality to tell but yea i cant tell, any help? longifolia or not? and yea i cant figure out how to host images on site as green has done i just used imageshack Edited September 1, 2008 by El Barto
~shameless~ Posted September 4, 2008 They are some nice photos Certainly looks like longifolia. Here are some photos i took at the beach only a couple of weeks after They were growing behind the first sand dune so extreme conditions as far as wind and & salt go. Actually the wind had pushed them into submission that much, they looked like they were layering or growing prostrate. Some what different to park or garden grown ones. lampy Posted September 4, 2008 the above looks like sophorae i think. much fatter and stubby phylodes.
hebrew Posted September 4, 2008 being coastal, that is a common place to find sophorae if i recall
~shameless~ Posted September 11, 2008 Good call vs!!, its hard to get any literature on this rugged species, it grows litterally meters from the waters edge> So unintentionally i just got my own question answered on someonelses thread, Its a bad habit i know!! hehehe sorry elbarto.
