visit to Melbourne botaninical gardens

Im hoping to visit the melbourne botanical gardens over chrissy, would peeps be able to tell me what plants of interest that I may find there, so that I can keep an eye out for them :) thanks

visit the cactus garden a nice few trichs in there, check iout the peruvians at the back there some nice brugs about the place and a huge old maidenii. a few other acacias like longifloias and floribundas theres a large bush of heimia as well, see i fyou can find it, i walked past it for years until gerbil showed me it one day.

Yeah, have a look and see if the super pedro specimen survived the damage myself and others saw last visit. Poor thing had been lopped in half right at the start of winter, was rotting nicely. The peruvianus is a very nice specimen.

I loved the Melbourne botanical garden when i went to visit only recently.

The cactus garden was great. So was the maidenii.

But i wish i had known about the heimia. Love to see a mature plant. didn't see the longifloias or floribundas either. damn

The brug in the fern garden was lovely too. It was flowering at the time.

Next time i'm in Melbourne i'm going to have to make sure i get someone to show me around the gardens.

good thread, havn't been to melbs before and Im going next month, will definately stop off at the botanic gardens for a gawk at the pretties.

thanks for the info guys. Conan... unfortunately I had to decide between you and tepa, and tepa said he would smash me if I chose you, so I chose tepa!! nah, not really, but... i am going with my mum, so prolly not the best time to meet... but defiantly will catch up some time!!

Sorry to hijack a little but while on the topic of peoples visists to botanical gardens, has anyone visited the Gold Coast garden?

Looks quite large and I only found out it existed the other day.

Im keen as beans to check it out.. AuntyJack, you up for a trip?
