nabraxas Posted May 21, 2007 "A Japanese inventor unveils what he calls the "next generation of eco-friendly energy sources" - batteries powered by water. Susumu Suzuki, the president of Tokyo-based building material maker TSC (Total System Conductor), has invented water-powered batteries, which have an electric current as powerful as that of a standard manganese dioxide battery. Suzuki says these batteries would be cheap to produce and can be recycled several times, making them an essential tool for the future. Ace Posted May 21, 2007 That is awesome! What a great idea So these would help by creating a recyclable battery that can be re-used many times, would be less dangerous to the environment, doesnt leak corrosive crap everywhere, can be activated by licking it (very handy in suvival type scenarios) and is powerful enough to power a regular torch or other little gadgets. Now that is cool. Only a matter of time before these ones get bigger and better I hope!
ThunderIdeal Posted May 25, 2007 well, let's hope they don't get big enough to overtake coastal areas, as he implies...
teonanacatl Posted May 30, 2007 now ive been looking at these and im not convinced they are as good as they make out. For the first one that water activated one I cant find out whats in it but alot of batteries require water they are just sold with the water already added, so his idea has good value for as he said survival things but not really powered by water. The second one isnt as great as it sounds either as we are just turning mechanical energy into electrical energy, kinda like powering your house with a bicycle and a magnet and what ever to generate electricity. So yeah i wouldnt call it a battery but a generator?
