i talked to amunda who had autumn mandrake to trade.

she has experience with officialis as well.

she stated usual germination rate was only 1 in 10,and may take a year to come up!

good luck to all!!!

anyone know how old a plant would need to be to flower and seed?

t s t .

No success here either. Still waiting patiently in hope. Maybe I should have a bit of a rummage in the dirt.

my 'drake offic. is at least a year old and now quite healthy. it set flowers this year but they dropped off and didn't appear to leave any seed behind.

1 in 10, this is exactly the rate tst. for the single to germinate I found that I had to remove the seed coating to expose the embryo, which looks for all intensive purposes like an ECG reading of a foetus (another reason to validate the Mandrake legend), appeared within the next week.

The other seeds had rotted by this stage and could only find 3 of the 10. Hoping this is of help!

Sounds to me like you need a little light on the soaked seed to promote germination (as I have suggested previously). Henbane is a weed of disturbed ground and the seeds will germinate when they have seen the light. As mandrake is common in cornfields in some countries it may well also need light on the seed to tell it it is near to the surface or recently ploughed. Just a short exposure is probably enough, no need to lay the seed above the soil.

Yeah, true beer traps are wicked and kind of funny when you ARE REALLY BORED OUT OF YOUR MIND while tripp'in just sit and stare watching the snails getting hooked to beer and they just simply get really pissed and drown..... I haven't seen a snail in Brisbane, is there any snails here?? do you only find snails in cooler climates??? I haven't lived in Brisbane long enough.... sorry get off the track..... :P

I love these french snails, only love them 'cos my little sister gets sick watching me eating these snails and also Cod Livers imported from Danmark, also my old man makes classic Finnish Pig's Blood Pancakes...they are also wicked....also makes my sister sick aswell while I am eating them...hehehe I must be a evil big bro... smile.gif
