M S Smith Posted August 9, 2006 http://www.iadb.org/cultural/documents/enc...vis-English.pdf I haven't read it yet, but even a simple look-over had me excited to share. I love this sort of stuff, I might have to set aside my current reading of Thucydides for a moment. ~Michael~

prier Posted August 10, 2006 Wade Davis is a great writer, I can't wait to get a chance to read this..
Maturin Posted August 10, 2006 (edited) Wade Davis is a great writer, I can't wait to get a chance to read this.. Seconded. "Rainbow and the Serpent"* is a great read, all about Haitian Voodoo, and the botanical/aquatic sources behind the creation of "zombies". Lots of interesting historical stuff about Haiti in general, too. * Forget Wes Craven's movie, the book is the real deal. Plant Psyentist Posted August 22, 2006 One River is definitely one of my favourite books of all time.
Tripitaka Posted August 23, 2006 Wade Davis is great! Such a succinct writer and weaves factual with great narrative. If you like Wade Davis style authors check out Michael Peissel. Of note are his books Zanskar Tiger for Breakfast More

kadakuda Posted March 31, 2011 i have not seen any of his vids, but i have most of his book sand second his lovely writing style. i usually hate wordy shit, but him i do quite like. it is not hard short facts, he drags things out, which is what i normally dislike, but he does it in style. one river is also probably my favourite book. although after you read a few of his books you notice a lot of stories told again.
