Extracting from animal brains

Recommended Posts

This idea only occured to me this morning so i'm just putting it up for discussion as to possible benefits/downfalls etc. I can see a plentiful supply of all kinds of interesting neurochemicals sitting in the fridge at the butcher just awaiting extraction. How about smokable 5-HT for that 5-HT boost during lengthy trips? Maybe a waste of time. Maybe there are better things to spend time extracting from other sources? But could we find useful things in left-over sheep brains?

How about Scrapie?

I dont think id be extracting anything from far less eating sheep or any other animals brains.

Prion diseases readily jump species barriers betwwen mammals as we share very similar if not identical protein sequences all it takes is time.

Im sure itd be much eaier to get substances like dopamine and 5HT from banana leaves and skins.Or any other species that produces these which includes sevarl otherwise inactive Panaeolus species.

One possible product might be Adrenaline from the Adrenals though. anyone from Adenochrome wink.gif.

Otherwise unless your after enzymes (lungs/liver or the glands)

I think urine might still be the best bet.

My unqualified but educated best guess only smile.gif

5-HT is toxic. It was trialled as a migraine treatment (increase in 5HT in the brain immediately stops migraines), but the sideffects were worse than the mirgraines.

do you think that dose and delivery system might remove these sideaffects?

is there any basis to the age old banana skin beliefs?

are there similar problems with dopamine?(perhaps crossing the blood brain barrier)

(maybe you could put an acetyl group on it wink.gif

I accept the danger of sounding stupid.

Aren't Tryptamines also extracted from animal brains? (just guessing)
