t st tantra Posted May 26, 2002 this plant reported shamanic hallucinogen. root chewed, also purgative, diuretic and aphrodisiac. thought i'd make note of definite effects, visual and mental, experienced when processing this root for drying.was slicing strips with a peeler, there was quite a bit of moisture and a dark colouration on my hands, which i assume i absorbed something from through my skin. effect built up over time, and i was a bit disorrientated when spiraleyes and his lady friend came round for a visit! will experiment further when its dried. anyone else tried this relativly common plant? t s t . Torsten Posted May 27, 2002 isn't it the close relative M.multiflora that is active, rather than jalapa??
t st tantra Posted May 28, 2002 what little info i could find, seems mainly hearsay from sources not totally reliable. but from memory multiflora is said to be active, with a warning that jalapa is a purgative. i sourced both aledgedly and couldnt really tell them apart.multi flowers per calyx type structure instead of one.they seemed to have interbred anyway, and with a third species. so anyway i got some seed to have a go. thanx for reminding and correcting me. as is often the case i dont really know exactly what i have, but after the effects from preparation it warrants further bioassay.purging seems almost par for the course and is certainly not going to prevent careful investigation
sascacheuan Posted May 28, 2002 Could you tell me what is the color of flowers???. And When have you harvest the roots??. at the finishing of flowering??.
sascacheuan Posted May 28, 2002 M.jalapa is very commmon plant. There are strains with red, yellow, white flowers, etc. M. multiflora is a uncommon plant. at least where i live. the color of the flowers are like purple or so.

t st tantra Posted December 10, 2002 looked this one up during my recent hour with pharmacotheon. ott had reports of stimulation followed by befuddlement, this is exactly what i experienced.the befuddlement being the reason i have not given this a proper try. but i'd say jalapa is most likely active. the purgative and diuretic root is concidered an aphrodesiac, reduces inflamation and promotes circulation.used to treat tonsillitis, urinary infections, fluid retention, scabies and eczema. t s t .
