its been pretty on an off here

its cold an rains they pop up then it gets warm an dries out

id also like to no if anyone has had much luck with fruiting this variety of subs

away from b*l%n#@p (haha dont want to say the word) if so how far away dont need locations just kms

and maybe south north east wateva would be interesting to no aswell

they seem to be fairly hard to get to fruit

i've only managed to get my first fruit this yr 3 yrs after setting up a patch

i think we need to get the melbourne variety cranking over here more

just like to make note of something wich i thought was rather strange

roughly 3-4 weeks ago had a few subs pop up from a patch

i noticed 2 very very small pins (they are definately subs)

they must be 1-2 millimetres they are tiny anyway i kept my eye on em

waiting to see if they would grow and they never did 3 weeks later

they are still there even after the weather warmed up

theres been some rain over the past few days

and i noticed one of them has just now started to grow after the rain

i had no idea that they could survive this long

if anyone else has had similar experiences

or knows if this a common let me know

I can confirm that from what I have seen the South West patches have not taken off yet. Pretty much no bloody mushrooms of any description, nothing fungal to look at at all, it was a bit disappointing as any kind of mushroom would have been a nice find.

I can also confirm that trying to cross a river on a wet log after 3 stiff scotches late in the evening was enough to cause me to fall in to the river, it was a bloody cold night to be bush walking in wet thermals.

Just as well there was more whiskey back at base camp waiting to warm me.

we may not have had the best weather for it and there may not be alot of shroomies but its definately on

why doesnt anyone post thier finds or anything

it seems like either everyone is paranoid there is some pigs watching these forums

or noone wants people to no theres anything there so other dumbasses dont ruin it for us wich makes sense

but hey i wanna see some finds

i havent checked out b-town myself yet but have had some subaeruginosa finds elsewhere :D in w.a.

nets bein a bit slow right now so i'll post some pics later when its workin properly

and see if i can revive this damn thread and get people to start posting again until then fucken post some shit people :D

Unknown species, looks kinda like a young gym but is more orange than purple so clearly not purpuratus.

haven't seen any bruising so probably not active.

theres millions of em im seeing the completely cover the tops of pins and devour them within a day

im talkin lil pins when theyre only like a millimetre in size

if they survive past that they dont usually get very big and they just get hammered by em constantly

any ideas or help on controlling this would be great thanks

I have visual confirmation that certain areas in the South West are being inundated with Hippie types, swarming in anticipation.

A known patch is still bare save for 1 solitary cap.

A week or two should do it.

I do'nt think so, I've seen them too & they leave them looking just like that with tiny holes to small for fungus gnats & eat little rings on the gills.

I think they are some type of mite, they live in the grass, as a kid we used to call them grass flea's. They are a grey colour & are about 1mm long if that & they can totaly cover a shroom so its just grey & moving. If you leave a shallow bowl of water in the yard near longish grass they sometimes all swarm to the water & you can see 1000's floating on top of the water. I'd love to know what they are aswell.

Saw some today actualy & little holes in the shrooms just like that.

I posted some photos last year but I couldn't find any of them around this year.

You're so lucky to find the spot to hunt the imported stuff.

I've been searching for years and all I found here in Perth is GP

im gona spill the beans an say those subs werent actually found in b-town they are the result of some guerrilla farming ;)

they are originally from the b-town

i to dont like to risk running into the fun police

i have on a few occasions over the years but havent been for the last couple of yrs

my advice to all is to take the risk if you dare and then use wat you get to create your own patches

so you dont have to take the risk of going to b-town

theres a million people who go there every season

so the boys in blue are all over it

however i no alot of people who go there every year and never get caught

but if you dont want to take the risk at all then find a source for fresh ones

you can use the stem but method without even having the stem buts if you get some

and theyve been chopped off at the base already you can still use them

AS LONG AS THEY ARE FRESH ENOUGH

simply pull the cap off the mushroom place the cap and the stem into wet cardboard and away you go

mycelium will start to grow from all over the stem and the cap also within a few days

its a foolproof way and its garaunteed to work TRUST ME

and the best thing you dont need to be making sure everythings sterile

anyone can do it ANYONE

I took photos of some similar ones a month or so ago, possibly the same variety? There was no indication of being active though, blue stain etc.

Nice to look at, and appeared to be growing on Jarrah or Marri, not sure which. Location was Great Southern area of WA.

I have been trying to find out more about the different varieties of fungus around WA (all kinds) to do identifications. But there seems to be very little in the way of online resources.

Perth Urban Bushland Fungi would be your best bet, They do organised walks where they teach you how to identify and all that.
