Hi Has anyone here made their own home made propagation box for small plants and cuttings? If so then can you give any advice or show any pictures? I have some seedlings trays which have their own humidity dome but for young plants or large cuttings I need something bigger. I was thinking of buying a plastic storage tub like this: http://www.bunnings.com.au/products_product_storage-container-kis-145l-t-box-clear-008656_P2581091.aspx?page=8 If anyone has setup anything like this then any tips or information that you could provide would be much appreciated.

Hey yo I went to Woolworths today and there was wheat grain in the pet food section and it was only $3 for 3 kilos. Bargain! I checked out some pet shops and an organic food shop and the price for grains was a lot more expensive and some of what was packaged was rather unsuitable for mycology. I think the organic food shop was selling wheat grain for $5 or so per kilo! So, check out your local Woolworths or supermarket for cheap grain in the pet food section.

Is anyone bringing plants or other things to sell/trade/swap?

At first I thought you wrote "Must not have any plants" and I was thinking "WHAT?!?!?!". Then a second later I noticed it was pets.

Do you know any Kwinana bogan shamans that I could do an Emu Export or chrome paint ceremony with? I need to cleanse my soul! =P

Software updates other than Windows updates are important too, Planthelper. Bugs are discovered in software all the time so fixes and patches need to be installed to help prevent attacks. You might not need all of the fancy feature updates but many updates are essential for your security. Foxit reader is a good PDF reading program. It uses less resources than Adobe's program too. http://download.cnet.com/Foxit-Reader/3000-18497_4-10313206.html Also, if you're using Internet Explorer as your web browser then STOP. Install Google Chrome or Firefox instead. I switched to Google Chrome and it's nice. It doesn't use many computer resources either.

You need to be very skeptical of lots of those free pc checks etc, especially the ones that pop up in banner ads etc. Many of them contain trojans, malware and ransomware etc. The same goes for pirated copies of legitimate software. Criminals know that people want copies of popular software so they'll put it online and include a trojan or virus within the program. If you are looking for good product reviews, how to guides, security and things like that then start looking at websites such as Cnet, Ars Technica and others if you don't already. You can also follow them on Twitter and other social media sites so you receive updates on security and other things. Below are some links to start you off. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparison_of_antivirus_software http://www.cnet.com.au/best-security-suites-for-2012-339325637.htm#image0 http://arstechnica.com/ By the way, Kaspersky is a good anti virus program. I've used it before and it has won a bunch of awards. It's not free though.

Any Perth Users Who Successfully Graft Cacti?
migraineur replied to migraineur's topic in Cacti & Succulents
I haven't tried it yet. I just don't want to lose any more caespitosa lophs than I have to. I'll get myself some grafting stock and try it myself. Damn that fungus that's killing my babies! -
If you want free horse manure then ask a local stable/horse owner. They'd love you to take it away since it will save them the trouble.

I have some trich and loph seedlings that I think would be good if grafted. I have very little root stock and I have not tried grafting before. I'm thinking of proposing a trade. I would supply the loph and trich seedlings and the other person would supply the root stock and grafting skills. The two participants would then share the final products. Is there anyone here that might be interested in such a proposal? -

They are in a heated humidity chamber and they have a fluorescent grow light on them which I turn on at night. -

Yeah, the carthagenensis only took a couple of weeks. They were made from recent growth though. -
Hi Can you guys tell me where one would buy chestnut compound from? Does Bunnings sell it? I have lots some seedlings to fungus and I don't want to lose any more, especially my caespitosa.
-
They are in 100% coarse sharp sand.
-
What should I use then? I don't want to end up losing all of my seedlings. I have lophs and I don't want to lose my babies! Should I remove the seedlings and put them in some new sterilised sand?

Depending on the plant you could always make some of them house plants. There is also a bunch of health benefits to this too and they look nice.

Hi, guys. Can any experienced people give me advice on using white oil on cacti in Summer? I have some trichs and pereskopsis that need it. I am guessing I will have to move all of the pots into a shady area when spraying them but I am not sure how long I will need to do this for etc. Any help is appreciated.

Yeah, I made the mistake of using it before which is why I plan to use an environmentally friendly one made from olive oil, washing detergent and water. It's for scale.

1.25 and 2 litre drink bottles are awesome for humidity domes and really cost effective.
