Got some seeds of these in a trade a while back from EG I think (thanks!) Recently a tiny seedling I grafted to a pach stock has put out large spines and new growth. I am interested in seeing pictures of plants grown from KK920 seed, as I can only find the one pic that is from KKs website. I know with Knize he could have sent out any random seed as KK920 but still interested to see what people have gotten under this label.

solomon replied to George Simian's question in Cactus & Succulent Identification
hill billy is on it! this is a succulent from.... Namibia if i remember correctly Larryleachia/Trichocaulon cactiforme. Definitely a slower grower, but one of my favourites in the collection! -
Hey carl I have a few crosses with SS02, the SS02(bridgesii) x bridgesii are definitely the fastest growing out of the bunch, SS02 x pach are second.

To the OP, I'm all for growing your own but you mentioned you couldn't find decent extract in NZ. Medico Herbs have a Kanna spray I would recommend.

All species of Cordyline were used as food by Maori and some were cultivated. Missionaries experimented with the root of Cordyline australis and brewed an apparently quite palatable beer. Also found a report of a rum made from the root. A lot of mention of using it as a laxative, to treat dysentery. Not much mention of use as an analgesic, once using the juice from the leaves as an external remedy for bruises was all I could find. Great thread

Rubus australis (could be another species or a hybrid) had nice berries, a bit on the small side so they were seedy. Bush Lawyer would probably benefit from training in the same manner as blackberry etc Happy to send you some fresh Kowhai seed of the species microphylla, molloyi and tetraptera and probably some cultivars if you like Mindperformer This is probably the best book on Rongoa / NZ ethnobotany I have found.

Hey there Welcome to the forums Pretty sure all I have is tortuosum, grown from seed sourced from B&T World Seeds if i recall. Grew out a couple S. emarcidum last year from Herbalistics seed but I fried them in the sun Mmm, the kanna here are flowering too.

solomon replied to applesnail's topic in Seed & Plant Swaps
Cold strat seems beneficial with some of the more tricky species. but with most, a heat mat and a good soil mix does the trick. plus placing em right fresh seed a must -

Pukatea (Laurelia novae-zealandiae) & Kawakawa/Maori Kava (Macropiper excelsum) Has anyone had any experience with growing or ingesting either of these plants? as i have just received seeds. and is there anything in acacia longifolia in worthwhile amounts?
