    Lophophora Grafts and Dormany "?"

It is not required to give them dormancy conditions but you will find they will slow down their growth either way. I grow some plants in a controlled environment under lights etc and even without changing the environment at all they will slow down for a well deserved rest at some point. Additionally, I have found a good period of dormancy encourages flowering, and faster overall growth in the long term. HN

    Showing off my Prized Lophs

Definitely mite damage on 3, hard to say whether past or present. Great collection.

    Teo's grafting book ; superglue ?

Personally I don't bother with super glue it is a waste of time, plants and money, plus it is toxic to you and your plants. Plain old stockings or if you need humidity plastic cling wrap work much better. For bigger scions just use sinkers attached to rigid sports injury tape. my2cents HN

    TBM crest

Funky looking thin, love the lophs in the background I feel like the grim reaper......but I can't see any crest growth in that pic ? Maybe it is just the angle but where is the apical meristem or growing point on this plant ? Especially with the larger spination and areoles, I'm confused...which is not uncommon BTW I would definitely leave it be, at this stage nature knows best once it has a put on some good growth or starts pupping again you can propagate.

Columnar Flower Buds. Got some ? Post them here.

That Juuls is a picture of futility that thing wants to reproduce !!
  6. I've got seed but I'm not sure how good my record keeping has been, due to this you can have it cheap but I suspect some very nice cultivars in there, including flower cultivars, Kikko, Kohyo etc. PM me if still interested.
  7. I took two small sections off one of them and grafted both of them earlier this year, both are showing normal growth at this stage. It would be good to get one with columnar growth as flowers are much more likely. Cheers for the comments, I certainly like this plant
  8. A couple of shots from the start of this season. Growth this year should be amazing given what happened over winter

What did you do to your cacti today?

Watered them, first time in a long time. They really needed it.

    Spider mites?

That plant most definitely has mites and some old damage which could have been due to anything and I can see a scale or 2. Look closely in the first pic towards the top you can see tiny white dots everywhere on the skin, they are spider mites moving in for the kill ! Give the plant a good water blast to remove most of them. Repeat the water blast in a few days and if necessary you can treat them with a Sulphor dusting.

Catha Seed Available Soon - Planthelper's cross

PH; It would most definitely be self pollinated, I only have a few plants and they are all clones from the original plant you sent me. As I said in the original post it will still be a few weeks I just wasn't sure if the interest was still there apparently it is I will update this post when they are ready and send a PM to all the people who got them. Catha Seed Available Soon - Planthelper's cross

I should have enough for everyone so far. I will ask for addresses and payment once I harvest the seed. More people may post but I cannot guarantee I will have enough. Sorry.
  14. I also noticed I didn't post this picture from last year too... stupid me. Both are crests from the TPM X SS02 Cross taken in November last year.
  15. Here is a pic from last year (November 2011) I don' think I posted in this thread, I will get an updated pic soon. This one is in the ground and is growing really well, the plant has great vigour for a crest and is resistant to bacteria and many pests.
  16. Nice looking plants Nitrogen. Such amazing variance in this cross.
  17. To to hear WT. I have neglected my plants something severe over winter but most of the TPM X SS02 have pulled through. One of the crests has actually grown quite a bit I will have to get a picture.

    Cacti/succulents for dry, dappled shade?

Wow nice Selenicereus Zelly, love them. With regards to sunlight and cacti I find nearly all species thrive in part shade and will grow with more vigour and attract fewer problems, especially the case for plants that are young or new to your collection. How about Myrtillocactus, Echinocactus or Ferocactus all make striking landscapes once mature. Mature Ferocactus are simply amazing google them. HN

    I made a cactus garden!

Nice garden. I really like the Marginatocereus Marginatus, great looking fat columnar, is that a cutting ? HN

    too much heat or overfert.?

Looks like sun burn as EG said. Given the size and age of the plant it could most definitely kill the plant. I would move it to a shady spot.
  21. Below is the analogue Clause that applies to NSW. I&#39;m no chemist but it appears fairly broad and will cover the vast majority. I think the government can easily &quot;stay ahead&quot; of new substances all it will take is a clause that makes references to the pharmacological effect rather than chemical structure and I would bet that is where the law will head in the future. Methylphenidate is not just S8 it is listed in the schedule of the NSW Drug Act as a prohibited drug and as such Ethlyphenidate would without a doubt be an analogue, given the analogue clause below. I would treat it as illegal.......in NSW anyway, I have not checked the legislation in other states.</p> Sorry to be the fun patrol but people should know the risks. People think they are dealing with legal alternatives when in fact they are buying the equivalent of Meth or Coke etc from the internet. Any substance that is an analogue of a drug prescribed in this Schedule, being a substance that has psychotropic properties, is not separately specified in this Schedule and is, in relation to the drug, any of the following: (a) a structural isomer having the same constituent groups as the drug, ( a structural modification obtained in one or more of the following ways: (i) the replacement of up to 2 carbocyclic or heterocyclic ring structures with different carbocyclic or heterocyclic ring structures, (ii) the addition of hydrogen atoms to 1 or more unsaturated bonds, (iii) the addition of 1 or more of the following groups having up to 6 carbon atoms in any alkyl residue, namely, alkoxy, cyclic diether, acyl, acyloxy, monoalkylamino and dialkylamino groups, (iv) the addition of 1 or more of the following groups having up to 6 carbon atoms in the group and being attached to oxygen, namely, alkyl, alkenyl and alkynyl groups (for example, ester groups and ether groups), (v) the addition of 1 or more of the following groups having up to 6 carbon atoms in the group and being attached to nitrogen, sulphur or carbon, namely, alkyl, alkenyl and alkynyl groups, (vi) the addition of 1 or more of the following groups, namely, halogen, hydroxy, nitro and amino groups, (vii) the replacement of 1 or more of the groups specified in subparagraphs (iii)–(vi) with 1 or more other groups so specified, (viii) the conversion of a carboxyl or an ester group into an amide group.

    Seed grown Trichocereus Peruvianus 'Icaro'

I will get an updated picture of my plants, I put a couple in the ground late last season and they have grown remarkably since. I have noticed they are getting very fat not sure on diameter but would have to be 12+cm. P.S. Tonic, has been a while mate.

New Member 21 years growing Cacti

Welcome. Would love to see a few of your plants
  24. Yes you can graft to cuttings, it works well with almost any combination of scion or stock. I have found it is less successful with seedlings.
