Correct time to put the plants outside?
EthnoGuy85 replied to hostilis's topic in Cacti & Succulents
How many hours will it be at/below freezing? When were they last watered? How established/mature are they seedlings or mature plants? These are always factors I take into account. My Tricho's went through 28F/-2C a couple times after moving out but they were on the dry side. And it only dipped down to below freezing for a few hours just before dawn. -

EthnoGuy85 replied to magical9's topic in Cacti & Succulents
I've never had trouble contacting Ben via email albeit he is a little slow to respond but I'm usually in contact via Email about once a week most the time. I've recently contacted him about if he can breed some per scop and he's going to look into it when next they flower -

Correct time to put the plants outside?
EthnoGuy85 replied to hostilis's topic in Cacti & Succulents
I move mine out when it is a lot cooler than what your forecast shows and I find I can start them in a more intense sun area as the days are still short(er). And they acclimate to the sun's intensity gradually as the days/rays lengthen/strengthen. I have my Tricho's In a lot more mineral mix than most do as I have high humidity year round and lots of wet weather. And terracotta all the way, so I don't worry about cool weather and rain most of the time -
Correct time to put the plants outside?

Should be fine just make sure to acclimate them to more intense light SLOWLY.... -
Looks like a sansevieria leaf to me. If so it will root and grow if it is in fact a bromeliad leaf then it won't happen. In fact if it is a sansevieria leaf than you can actually cut it into several 2in pieces and each will root and produce new plants

Best Method for Germinating Cactus Seeds?
EthnoGuy85 replied to doxneed2c-me's topic in Cacti & Succulents
The peat of the jiffy pots suck moisture from the soil. Use plastic pots and the Baggie method http://cactus-mall.com/ccc/ -
SS02 loses it's 2 spine motive when grown in shade. It tends to revert back to a basic Bridgesii spination

SS01 is the peruvianoid and ss02 bridgesiod
