    Soul mate search and find?

just throwing it out there...I grew up on pop music & crap love stories replayed to death on the media....& now forced upon me everytime I enter a super market or the like.....Brainwashing to the extreme.... You know what I mean...just watch any hollywood shit...its the same old formula, the same old story ....over & over & over again...the special effects about the only thing that makes it barely watchable...although I think my saturation point was passed along time ago....these days the trash barely serves to relieve boredom. Most of it just makes me cringe...& I wonder off to something of more interest. My point is ...."are soul mates even real?" What has become really apparent to me in the last several years, is just how saturated/brainwashed we are, when you really dig deep ...sort for the truth....culture is little more than a collection of lies...belief systems....sometimes to manipulate us...sometimes its just gunk that we carry around as our identity. I have heard the words "I love you" so many times....they are valueless....shit deluded people say....(parental bonds aside).. I think we are continually being conned....by our culture, ourselves ....& nature. Nature created this bio-cocktail....that makes you feel love.....Love is the most addictive of drugs....but there is always a price to pay...........The biggest 1 here is lost/sacrifice of freedom.............all for the price to past the dna on.... You can waste a lifetime searching for something that doesn't exist, or compromise & spend the remainder of your life with someone who you barely tolerate.....enslaved to all kinds of obligations & responsibility.............. Be Free.....be independent....be your own person...attachments will come & go....avoid a life time sentence for a belief... you want kids ...just go & have them...no offence but the older you get the higher the rate of genetic mutations your children will have......for both sex's.......

    reusing seedling mix

nice pile..... AZs probably the better method, I always reuse. When seeds or plants fail, I just put new seedlings into the same pot/mix....just incase the dead plant shoots from the roots...or some seed decides to finally sprout. (probably not best practice)

  6. (Echinopsis pachanoi) San Pedro x Cereus hybrid update (I searched but couldn't find the earlier post) So not so long ago, I gave away a bunch of seeds, including the hybrid, San Pedro (mother) x Cereus. I'm guessing that those who tried had little success, they sprouted ok, mostly albino, but 95% would die off after several weeks. The few survivors are slow growing even in the propagator. Grafting was a challenge, the only rootstock that's been successful for me was dragon. Probably 80% loss rate with the grafts....but the 3 below seem to be doing ok (sorry about poor quality of pic's) incidentally, the opposite cross of Cereus (mother) x San p, are very vigorous. red pot (its pupped)
  7. A black wattle Acacia mearnsii...was exuding gum..it tasted sweet, non assuming..not at all astringent.. My searching found that some seeds & gums of some Acacia species are eaten. Anyone tried any?

What did you do to your cacti today?

I found a yellowish stem in the middle of a huge San p, thought at 1st may be lack of light. I cut the top on the yellowist areole (cutting down away from the areole), I find barely cutting the top of an areole encourages it to pup, (on grafts & scions also). will cut again when bigger ...more yellow to chose from this time.

help! graft gone black & yellow overnight

Poor Corry...cut off in his prime (3 months old)...he lived fast (150mm tall from a 3 mm seedling top) died young....his 2 healthy pups sorrow for his passing...blessed be.... Taken by excessive humidity perhaps...or was it an std from that dodgy looking pachycereus pecten living next door......some flesh eating pathogen....
  17. its not soft & mushy, but I guess the rapid growth, thin skin..high humidly etc has caused this pathogen...appreciate advice that might save it, should I degraft it & dry it out, or should I leave it & hope for the best?....is it likely to get worse?...will it spread to the other cacti?....its a 150mm Corryocactus brevistylus....it had 2 pups which I cut & grafted, see pic's...that was a while ago ...but maybe it provided access for the pathogen. & wondering about this stenocereus too...had black spots on it for a few weeks now...seems stable..its the round 1 on left of pic...

help! graft gone black & yellow overnight

cacti in side gh,,,,,,last few days have been super hot, as I mentioned it happen overnight...the yellowing blackening that is. Can't cut it out ...its completely circled it, could maybe cut the tip off & regraft, but I suspect the pathogen would be all over/in it. dox...Its only the 1 cactus scion....from different angles (except for the stenocerus at base)

Its inside on top a massive 2m san p log...all roped in....surrounded by other massive logs...pack in tight...no way is it coming out...ventilations a bit of a big ask too...I don't mind degrafting it...& drying it outside, its big...3 years growth in as many months..just don't want to see the rest of the family hit.

    eaten wattle gum or seeds?

That was a bad experience for you ghosty ...with Acacia maidenii wiki has some interesting info, the gums a bush food...nothing about its seeds or their toxicity..Bark has some % of cough cough... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Acacia_maidenii Gotta be careful... I tried the gum of black wattle last eve.........fresh & soft just melts in your mouth sweet as.....totally recommend...the hard stuff is a bit chewy...but has a soft centre, probably could be added to bread & cake recipes or salad dressings etc... I noted over time some research into the antioxidant properties of gums......still need to do a lot more reading though...but seems a good thing to add to my foraging diet........ thanks TH for http://www.wildseedtasmania.com.au/bush_food.php "Acacia mearnsii 'Black Wattle' Seed and gum are edible. Bark can be steeped to make a tea - good for indigestion."...a few others mention there too. Gum Arabic health benefit http://www.greentea-extract.info/gumarabic.html Microcapsules containing antioxidant molecules as scavengers of reactive oxygen and nitrogen species "gum arabic a more potent antioxidant than maltodextrin."
