Yeah that's been the option for a while now, but I think its a combo...(maunder minimum) "Grand Solar Minimum" is maintaining our temps..& perhaps promoting colder freezes during the winter on the northern continents...& I get the theory/stats that there hasn't been much upper temp movement...but I suspect its not going to be an even trend up...year by year...its geological time & the temps are rising & I suspect there will be pulses/extremes of temp increase overall ....the CO2 increase is as real as the maunder minimum "Grand Solar Minimum" & it all goes into the mix...complex system.. If you guys hate the heat so....why not relocate to cooler temps?

t validus has me a little confused...it doesn't come up on most reputable data bases ...except Echinopsis valida - Desert-Tropicalsthough there's lots of discussion of it on general sites....... hostilis I listed the pdf of this book earlier, I have a lot of respect for the author, he's a friendly guy who lives & breaths cacti...& is out collecting seeds from remote sources....(has a seed house for obtaining rare seeds)..that said I've yet to get around to reading it..so I can't comment.

OK so I've posted this 1 earlier before it flowered with little success in id-ing it...perhaps someone might recognize it now its in flower...hope's (presently x-ing both ways with white flw Grandiflours & san p). the 2 pups start ~100mm up stem, not at the base. Most members id this as Grandiflorus...pups at base, very different in form than the 1 above. just on the off chance any one can name this yellow flw opuntia, it has purplish pads (unlike the bright green pad opuntia next to it)

I'm not sure either...but I generally pinch off all competing shoots...this time of year they can grow fast & sometimes I find the shoots may be a cm or more...so I put the shoots aside for a day or so & pot them ..most of them take & will grow large enough to graft on in 8 weeks or so.

cereus taste great but trich's a bit bland.. my method is similar to G. mash the fruit up between my fingers......soak in luke warm water with a little dish washing liquid...mix about now & then over a few hours....then strain & rinse under the tap through a fine sieve ....I don't put them on paper towels...as it can all stick like glue...I spread them around a large plate...& put it aside for a week in some safe out of way mice & sun free place...then I gently scrap them off the plate with the finger nail...can stick to plate like glue, so it pays to move them about once a day, to keep them free. either that or eat the fruit a spit the seeds out........ did your selenicereus fruit ever mature?
