The Spineless Trichocereus Scopulicola Project
hostilis replied to hostilis's topic in Cacti & Succulents
Mutant. I think that would work very well. But does anyone have a scop mother hybrid of flowering age? mysubtleascention. That would create clones which kind of defeats the purpose imo. -

The Spineless Trichocereus Scopulicola Project
hostilis replied to hostilis's topic in Cacti & Succulents
Well it's good to know that you can get spineless scop looking plants from the scop mother hybrids. What I'm looking for is the round ribs, skin color, small spines, and possibly the "belly button" areoles in some seed grown plants! Seems like a lot of people already have seedligns like this. Lol. And by the way, I overwinter all my cacti inside. It kinda sucks, but it works. Better than them turning into mush like they would in my crazy harsh, cold, wet winters. -

Even the "spineless" scops have spines like Auxin said, but there are lots of "scopulicola" cuttings going around that have spines the size of PC pachanoi. Most sellers in the US with "scopulicola" have spined clones. I had a TON of trouble finding the (virtually) spineless variety. I personally don't like to consider the longer spined ones scop, but some people do. Anyways that's why I want this project to succeed. So that there are lots more spineless clones floating around. People in Australia probably don't understand the plight to find spineless scops since they're at every big box store over there. Lol. -
Do you have any pictures of the huge dick. I always enjoy seeing massive penises.

We need to get some pollen from one of the Australia or UK clones and pollinate your spineless one. Like the "belly button scop" x zelly's scop. That would be awesome. -

Got my T. scop seeds from Koehres. If anybody wants some please contact me. -
#2 definitely looks PC as well. Have all of those been growing in the same conditions for a while Getafix?
-
I would say all but plant 2 are PC. Not for sure though. Looks super similar, but those "V" notches above the areoles make me think it's something else.

Interesting! Thanks for bearing with me with all my questions. I've just been extremely interested in learning more about scopulicola lately. Here are some pictures of my scopulicola cutting. It has tiny tiny tiny spines (virtually spineless from SS), but you can't really see them except for at the very tip. This was when I first got it. It's grown a few inches since. From what I understand there are a couple clones of (virtually) "spineless" scop floating around. One that has "belly button" areoles, a clone that has slightly indented areoles, and an exposed areole clone. I'm not sure if these are all the same clone grown in different conditions or just a bunch of different clones, but if we could get them bred together we could get some awesome plants. So who would be interested in the spineless scopulicola seed project? We could either trade cuttings or trade pollen of our scops and try to make some spineless seed. I don't have any flowering trichs yet, but I'm sure lots of you do. If any of you are interested I'd be down to facilitate it and possibly pay for some of the postage costs of pollen in exchange for a few seeds if successful. -

Is my penis pointing the right way?

The reason why I say it's right side up is because of the "ribs" around the areoles. They're shaped like breasts. On my semi monstrose (melted wax) the round part of the "breasts" are down just like it is on yours. Also the spines are pointing down like on yours. But maybe it's a different clone, IDK. -

That's how I figured they would start. Spines at first untill they mature a bit. Did you plant the seeds yourself or buy them as seedlings?
