    Apios americana interest?

Hey dude forgot to write I'm happy to send these out for free, I just wanted to give back as I've received a few free seed packs. sweet il get a pic up tonight of my harvest!
  5. Hey hookah, none of what I wrote was geared towards you mate. The handreck and black i was referring to is a book called growing media for ornamental plants and turf written by the authors handreck and black. Bible probably was the wrong word to use in that instance, but it is a book I refer to a lot! It has very well laid out accurate information regarding soil science most specifically in regards to Australian materials and environment.
  6. Yes that is true sally, I am sorry to OP if I have been rude there is no excuse your intentions are in the right direction. "I'd just like to see the organic movement use a bit more science instead of dogma."
  7. " This human innovation has fed MILLIONS of people and been a boon for mankind. Where it falls down is the acidity left behind. The pH drops low and locks out nutrients for the plant." Let me know how acidic a former cow pasture is mate ;) As organic matter breaks down it releases organic acids, shit look at peat moss again i'm not saying this is a bad thing, its just with quotes like above it doesn't seem you truly understand whats going on
  8. Hey hookah, I understand there is a very intricate system out there, but really sally I think has hit the nail on the head with her post!! and sally, that is so true, According to Handreck & Black (my bible lol) no more than 30% organic matter in general otherwise it will be of now use to the plant.
  9. Hey mate, I agree with a lot of what you ahve written, and it was written much more legible lol See this is the problem, can you explain what you mean? Becuase I think it is very stereotypical to say that anyone that doesn't automatically side with the 'organic is better ' side means they are all "@%$^@ hippies" with their organic mumbo jumbo. I have sat through lectures, going over the chemical properties of said nutrients, and at the point of entering the plant, organic or synthetic they are the same structure. I feel I have to reiterate this again, I believe sustainable organic gardening is the way to go, and I am trying to keep my own backyard as self sustaining as possible while still producing food for me and my family.!! I just also believe there is far too much anecdotal information being spread around throughout the whole horticultural sector.

How to grow cactus from seed

Ok so my plan will be to slowly acclimatize them to low humidity over time, I guess I'll aim to have them use to low humidity roughly 1 month prior to when I want to move them into my greenhouse from my little grow box.
  11. I don't disagree about poisoning the earth etc and I am by no means advocating the use of harsh chemical pesticides. I just feel it's time better served looking at sustainability issues, like sources of materials, how to prepare ones own compost properly etc things a long these lines instead of listing a bunch of additives etc. I am sorry i am terrible at writing what comes to my head, sorry if this isn't that literate lol In regards to cannabis, you seem to be mixing up indoor/outdoor with organic/synthetic, Cannabis plants can be grown organically underneath lights. Why is it superior to you and your friends grown outdoors? I believe as I said before it is not because of nutrition, as ultimately the plant is getting the same chemicals just from different sources. I would believe it has more to do with plant's access to the sun's full spectrum of lighting, allowing for a full profile of terpinoids/flavinoids to be created. I guess this comes back to differences in our drives behind organic gardening Edit* I can post pictures of friends plants as well

How to grow cactus from seed

Cheers nitrogen, I want to grow them out as big as possible before spring arrives here at the end of the year, So i'll keep em under the humidity cheers
  13. I have to say that I do believe it's a load of horse shit re:organic buds tasting better or organic produce in that matter particualry in this case vs 'hydroponic grown' stuff. Has nothing to do with nutrition rather a lack of the full spectrum of the sun that is lost indoors and will never be able to be replicated. Sorry, but I do believe Sustainable organic farming is the way to go, Just claims like that erk me

How to grow cactus from seed

Hi all, Thought this would be a good place to ask my question, I've recently germed a bunch of seed, everything is going well I am just un experienced with hardening off the seedlings to low humidity settings, now they are a month old the seedlings, should I start opening one of the flaps on the propagators or should a wait another months or two?

    A.B.C.

Cannabis sativa subsp. Australis? The story i've heard that is came from an old timer couple 20+ years ago now who had been growing it in queensland for god knows how long. From what i've heard its still being bred here in aus, getting hybrids with potency while still retaining it's stealth look!

    Show off your freaks

hey all, Just curious about this bridgesii seedling, it was started a few years ago and out of 100 seeds this was the only one i got to live lol. (my frist time germinating cacti seed) Anyway, it has since gotten over terrible acclimatization to my greenhouse, as is greeen and growing just fine now. Except it almost looks like it is turning variagated?? In the pictures below you will see, i originally thought it was insect damage, but it would be at the tip no? and the plant is still growing perfectly fine :S Anyone know? Cheers

I'm in Australia, land of everything being backwards!!! lol yeh germ rate was awseome from this lot, and another freshly harvested batch I got from another member. Were also some yr+ older crosses from zelly, which germinated fine just took a few more days to come up. Edit * Actually used a few of these seedlings to teach myself how to graft last night. See how we go lol
