Pedro99 Posted February 22, 2021 Hey everyone, is this a chop job? This spot seems to have gotten bigger over the past week.
AbleKay Posted February 22, 2021 if this was a poll i'd chop and treat the rest of the plant with Manzcozeb or similar but you probably know this. nice plant, i really just wanted to say i love the gradient in colour ,-)
Evil Genius Posted February 22, 2021 It's really borderline. Personally, I think it'll probably progress in the lowest part because you can already see various infected spots. Cutting brings other risks though because it opens wounds for the pathogens. I would probably cut, but it's a thin thin line.

Strontium Dawg Posted February 22, 2021 I hate to be a downer but variegates like this are doomed once they show this infection. You might stave it off for a while, but it's prolonging the inevitable in my experience.
Pedro99 Posted February 22, 2021 @Glaukus Do you think the whole column is doomed? Varis in my climate are a horror story lol

I was probably being overly pessimistic. Ive killed many variegates, some through lack of care, some through no fault of my own. I have found that once they show the symptoms, the disease is usually well established in the tissue and no matter how hard I cut, it reappears.
Pedro99 Posted February 25, 2021 Is anyone interested in taking the healthy looking part to graft up?
fyzygy Posted February 25, 2021 In addition to fungicide etc, maybe a brightly lit, well ventilated, dry environment would assist the plant's recovery? Just a hunch. But maybe it's worth relocating the pot.
