0 Marcel Posted October 19, 2011 Looks kind of like HS, but quite different to my plants. Not sure... Hopefully Planthelper will chime in...
0 Bread Filter Posted October 19, 2011 It is very different to mine as well. All of the leaves on mine are only 2-3cm in length in total. The seed pods, (if that is what they are), look similar though.
0 Bush Turkey Posted October 19, 2011 looks like heimia to me! does it have little yellow flowers?
0 solomon Posted October 19, 2011 It is very different to mine as well. All of the leaves on mine are only 2-3cm in length in total. The seed pods, (if that is what they are), look similar though. I've read that H. myrtifolia has shorter leaves 2-3cm in lenghth and that H. salicifolia has leaves 3-5cm long. I'm sure this can vary tho and I have never compared the two species in the local Botanic Gardens

I had a look at mine and the leaves are more like 1cm long.
0 Psylo Posted October 19, 2011 (edited) This looks similar to the Heimia that I have also. Maybe there was some misidentification, but it was gifted to me as salicifolia Edited October 19, 2011 by Psylo Dread
0 GoOnThen Posted October 19, 2011 Thanks for the input people I have a number of plants in different positions around my garden that all from the one cutting that I was given last year. The second and third pics are of the original cutting I have noticed the difference in the leaf size and the overall look of the plant depending on where it is growing. Some are in full shade some part shade and the one in the pot is in full morning and midday sun. The one in the pot has had a couple of flowers and they were quite small and yellow and do look right for a Heimia When I first got the cutting I had a look around on the net to positively identify it but I was never positive about the ID from the photos that I saw. I will try and take some better pics of all of the plants tomorrow and hopefully we might get more of an idea what is going on. I would like to trade this plant but I am hesitant to do so without being certain of its ID Cheers Got
0 Bush Turkey Posted October 19, 2011 i would say straight up Heimia salicifolia. I looked after a fellow members for a while and it flowered for me. The leaves seem to grow bigger in the shade. but i could be wrong
0 Bush Turkey Posted October 19, 2011 (edited) actually im starting to think the ones i looked after are H. myrtifolia because it had reall small flowers. Heimia salicifolia has flowers 2-3cm in diamater Heimia myrtifolia has flowers on 1cm in diamater (according to wiki) what size were your flowers GoT??? EDIT: Now im confused. Is there a hybrid of the 2 out there??? The one i looked after had leaves 5cm long but 1cm diamater flowers! Edited October 19, 2011 by Bush Turkey

0 planthelper Posted October 19, 2011 Looks kind of like HS, but quite different to my plants. Not sure... Hopefully Planthelper will chime in... thx for the flowers, but i don't know much about heimia, auxin and tantra are the men!
0 GoOnThen Posted October 25, 2011 The first pic is of the plant grown in the shade the second is the one grown in full morning to midday sun Cheers Got
0 Marcel Posted October 25, 2011 Yeah, the second one looks like mine, which I grow in the full sun. I thought the bushiness of mine was a result of pinching out the tips, but maybe it's just the sun that gives it that shaggy look.
