culebra22 Posted December 25, 2009 Old Brugmansia x candida double white Not my plant. I think this is a Brugmansia aurea, again not my plant, growing in some dude's yard. Had to take a photo cos it's rather floriferous. Sorry about poor quality, photo taken at long range and cropped majorly. more to come.

planthelper Posted December 27, 2009 wau, that culebra looks a stunner, but i never get tired of looking at brugs, even if it's just a single white bloom. brugs were one of my first plants i learned to take cuttings from, and i think brugmansia are great teacher plants, and i mean in the sence of that, one can learn a lot about horticulture, if caring for a brug. they respond so fast to ones nurturing, or neglect and as such we can learn to get a feel for plants, in short a brugmansia can help you to get a green thumb. nice pics, thx culebra22! hebrew Posted December 28, 2009 the fragrance from these flowers i very overwhelming, i was just under the tree for no more than 1 minute and i felt light headed and dizzy. so beautiful smelling, very intoxicating, i really need to get my shit together and make some perfume from these flowers, the neighbour is always at me to cut it down but i told them i will not cut it down, they dont like the flowers falling on the property, to appease them i cut it back heaps a few weeks ago. hebrew Posted December 29, 2009 (edited) or hell. if you want a cutting of this plant happy to sort that out but its just your standard brug, plenty of them around, theres some nice peachy colored ones in the city of melbourne, near the boat/sailing place on the yarra there. i have never seen a seed pod this plant, however there is a plant in the botanical garden that often gets seed pods. whats the deal with brug and self seeding does it happen? culebra22 Posted December 29, 2009 I think brugs are generally self-sterile and these double whites are clones (genetically the same, propagated via cuttings) and you have to cross them with another brug type to get seed. Following the theme:

Hedonix Posted January 14, 2010 (edited) found this on my travels today.. thought I'd take a sample..I'm planning on asking the owner to take pics and possibly some cuttings - wondering if someone can ID this from just pics of the flower? I've seen a few of these plants around Sydney but not sure if it is actually a Brugmansia.. Edited January 14, 2010 by Hedonix
