I think true democracy can only exist once 'direct democracy' is implemented. All contentious issues should be decided by the people, not the people they may or may not have voted for. I think the best system would involve taking a short quiz to prove you actually understand the facts around the issue, e.g. How many people arrive in Australia by boat per year? A: 100. B: 1000. C:10000. D: 100000. If you prove you know about the issue, then you should get to exert your opinion to sway the national outcome. If you are too stupid to base your opinion on evidence or too lazy to vote, then you should have no right to complain. Under the present system you are forced to vote for some stranger, then they just do whatever they want. People power? In Estonia they have a form of this system already: when there is a referendum or election, you just insert your ID into your computer and vote instantly. However all this being said i can't see the majority voting against the drug testing idea...

As someone who has struggled to find stable employment for a number of years, i am deeply concerned about these recent developments. At the face they make sense; i agree people should have to pay their own way and any financial assistance rendered to them shouldn't be squandered on drugs. However we have to remember that drug use is not an indicator, or necessarily a cause, of unemployment. Rather i believe that the depressing, degrading and marginalising environment many unemployed people find themselves in is conducive to problematic drug use. People in that position are made to feel useless, selfish and unmotivated, and the longer it goes on, the harder it is to fix. With both centrelink and employment agencies doing nothing but 'advising jobseekers to attain employment', it's easy to fall into the trap of using substances to escape, or just fill the time everyone else is off earning their bread. This all indicates, to me, that the government needs to focus on actually addressing unemployment, not just punishing increasingly marginalised people. Surely having a job helps people control their drug use better than putting them on some sort of 'lazy druggo' register and taking away their meagre livelihoods... Finally, i believe it's pertinent to note that unemployed people get about $100 more per fortnight than university students on a similar welfare payment. Less work for more money; not a good incentive to do the right thing.

I agree, senor Duke. However we have to be clear in these discussions that our enemy is not "drug users" or, as the government/Powers dub them "drug offenders". The people you describe who are involved in the illegal drugs trade and who don't care for others are bad drug users. Since most humans use drugs, and most humans do care about others, i think it's very important to highlight that most drug users are not bad people. Therefore most drug users do not deserve punishment, even if they 'have done it before' and hence 'should know better' Being a user, or even producer, of different drugs to the ones (currently) legally sanctioned should not be an 'offence' to begin with, and taking away the possessions of such people is incredibly callous and cruel, particularly if there is no evidence of a connection between these items and the supposed crime. I think CLICKHERE is on the money when s/he says these laws will target ordinary people attempting to live their lives. Surely there is no greater incentive to recidivism than having one's entire life ripped away; maybe these already marginalised people will, having no remaining options, resort to true crime! ...which is the criminal?

My local paper recently featured an article about a new police taskforce for ice. Interestingly, it was quick to dissuade readers from hating on ice users, saying that "people use drugs for a variety of reasons and deserve to be given access to treatment", and that 'law enforcement alone has no chance of solving the problem'. I thought it was a pretty well-done article. However the corner of the article was cut out to make room for a smaller article saying the local area command now have access to tasers...

Hey friends I foolishly acquired a lop/trich graft without knowing how to look after it, and when i had no free time to treat it properly. Now of course, the trich has rotted and I am desperately trying to save the lop/head. There are also a lot of pups on the head. I have a couple of very strong/healthy trichs, and figured my best bet would be to put the main head on one and the pups on a couple of others, by cutting the head off the rotten trich and regrafting. I already left the poor thing for weeks, i have been extremely negligent in this regard and i want to get it sorted TODAY, before any further damage occurs due to my incompetence. Standing by, please advise.

As you can see, i put the pups on separate trichs, and the main scion back onto it's #2 graft, after removing the red rot!
