Mycot Posted May 14, 2011 (edited) whats the background of Mycot B and are they penis shaped basidia/P.cystidia forms? Mycot B was first found by myself in february last year and first appeared in post48 of the WA gyms thread although it was found in NE NSW. A quote from that post says "This was a fine specimen with very good bluish tones on the whole center area of the cap". It was a freakish find growing on the wood around a skylight on the inside of a caravan where the rain had leaked through. How it got there is anybody's guess though I've noticed that gyms have a way of getting around and can appear in the most surprising of places. ferret Posted May 15, 2011 (edited) "Mycot A" 400x "Mycot C" 400x, 100x to scale, 1 division equals approx 2.45um Edited May 15, 2011 by ferret
Mycot Posted May 19, 2011 (edited) For reference purposes here's a pic of large cultivated specimens of "Mycot A" Pics of "Mycot C" can be found in post 35 of the Gymnopilus Purpuratus Information? thread. Wish to also note that bluing and activity have not as yet been observed with the latter though they do have similar morphology to active gym species. An additional point in respect to many active gym species is that bluing can be elusive or absent. Really like the visual comparison of the spore comparison pic. A question, which of Tripsis's gym finds do those spores refer to and which gyms are the ones refered to as rushall ? Edited May 21, 2011 by Mycot
