prier Posted January 14, 2006 I've been wanting to go and try and ID some acacias for a while now, but I have absolutely no idea where to start. What are the basic characteristics that set them apart, is it the leaves, the flowers, the branches? Sorry I really know very little about botany what so ever. Also where can I check up on my findings before having to come here to ask for IDs?
gerbil Posted January 15, 2006 UTSE there is information already here. www.worldwidewattle.com is a start, then there is also a wattle CD with database and ID program. Go to the library and search for native and wattle texts, also the family mimosaceae texts. They are quite unique plants, some are easier to simply ID as a Acacia than others. Basics that help ID, glands, flowers, leaves/phyllodes juvenile and mature, shapes, heights, habits, flowering times, stem colourations, habitat, site aspects etc.
