squiresk Posted November 16, 2002 I think, for such a project to succeed, there should only be one. The AFSR supplies spores as well. If there was one, well managed FSR sure I'd be only too willing to do my part. k.
Guest reville Posted November 16, 2002 The Mycology scene is in a bind You cant have people interested in it if they cant access prints And you cant run a FSR unless you have lots of people donating prints I think it will happen in time but you cant push it. At the moment it would rely too heavily on a handful of people to keep it stocked. thats not to say it isnt a good idea but you are likely to face chronic shortages. Of all the prints ive sent out/ given away, must be between around 80 so far i have recieved maybe 1/4 as many back hence the winding down of availability. And with no rain i cant even get hold of wild prints Whats kept them in stock is some very geneous people, just a handful who've done more than their share to help out. It takes time and several failures for most people to succeed so i think there is more going on in the early stages out there that just hasnt surfaced yet. somnif Posted November 17, 2002 My FOAF has always been too suspect of the sterility of her printing technique to put any out into circulation. She would hate to be a factor in a newbies lack of success when there are plenty of others to contend with. Is this a valid fear or is sterility in printing not a big factor in contam's? I guess the problems would appear early on in the process anyhow. [This message has been edited by somnif (edited 17 November 2002).]
