quorn - can you grow some?

The stuff is not that great, and vegans can't eat it because of the egg. Go for it, I say if you're up for a challenge. Or stick with more 'gourmet' fungi. Doesn't taste like meat. texture, is 'almost close'

    Hoodia gordonii

Seems those clever little Saff efrigan scientists are at it again. This time Viagra no less. :::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: South African scientists working on 'Viagra' tree PRETORIA (AFX) - South African scientists say they have isolated the active ingredients of the root of the violet tree, which is chewed by men in the north of South Africa to obtain erections, and are applying for patents. Marion Meyer, head of the botany department at the University of Pretoria, told the SAPA news agency the active ingredients had been tested on smooth muscle samples obtained from hospitals. They had the same effect as Viagra, relaxing the muscle to allow blood to flow into it, he said. Meyer said clinical trials on human beings could start in about three years, and if successful a new drug could be launched about two years later. The violet tree is found in the north of South Africa and elsewhere on the continent. Meyer said the university's scientists are keeping traditional healers informed of their progress. The healers would also benefit from the profits should a drug be registered in the future. [email protected] :::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: Found it in a GlaxoSK News Item, not sure how/what where they've got to do with it however. Kai
