teonanacatl Posted March 2, 2005 just noticed that when i repot my cacti into bigger pots they seem to grow fatter. i have only just noticed this so im not sure if there is any correlation but in all the pics i looked at the wider the pot the fatter the cacti were. wat do u think??? have you noticed this??? apothecary Posted March 2, 2005 Maybe it's not really a corellation between pot width and cactus width as much as giving the cactus more root space, so it feels more like its "natural" enviroment and grows more accordingly?
smogs Posted March 2, 2005 be careful with putting little cacti in big pots tho because they take longer to dry out and more chance of rott maybe they are getting more water?
teonanacatl Posted March 3, 2005 yeah i will photo to show wat i mean on weekend. i just potted up some 14 months old seedlings the biggest is 18cm and since repotting they have all grown in diameter buy about 1cm. the 2 that i left unpotted are the ones im trialing different hours of sunlight on and they are substantially thinner. all were of about even diameter befor repotting.
