Another cactus ID....sorry :)

Recommended Posts

What do you think about these cactus species?

They give me the first as pachanoi, the second as peruvianus and the third as bridgesii monstruosus.

Thanks for your help!

Bye,

Salah

Yeah, they tell you no lies.

How many ribs has the first?

Also looks like it's got a tumor! Don't know what that's all about?

Whoa, lies they do tell. The first looks less like a T. pachanoi and more like the longer spined version of T. scopulicola that the fine folks in Australia know as "Lance." The second photo is clearly of a standard T. bridgesii. Notice the very distinct three to four radial spines without a central spine. The last is certainly the monstrose T. bridgesii on the right. The center one is also a T. bridgesii, but its hard to tell if it is monstrose or not from here, probably not as the spination on the base section is too prominent.

The center one in the last photo is the "mother" of the little one in the second photo.....T. scopicula....that sound interesting!

What about alkaloid content in T. scopicula?

Thank you for your help!

Salah

Salah,

Michael was right of course, that definately is a T.scopulicola.

There is apparently some mescaline in them but very little research has been done.

As for those bumps, all I can say is the only scop. I ever had was weird as well!

Does anyone know of people "enjoying" scopulicola?
