Cosmic Debris Posted January 27, 2003 On a cactus I recently purchased I noticed an opening in the skin, when I looked closer I found that about 15cm long section of the inside of one of the ribs had been eaten. Could someone suggest what could have done this.

Happy Cadaver Posted January 27, 2003 Cockroaches got into my peyote seedlings a few months ago, i thought it was a fungi. they used to eat about 15 a night, the fuckers. had to re-cover the pots and get a few baits around. could be that.
Cosmic Debris Posted January 27, 2003 It wasnt a bite taken out of it, it looked like something had tunneled underneath the skin. The part that was eaten was 50cm above the ground.
toby Posted January 29, 2003 hi, it sounds like a small caterpillar type thing that burrowed through a loph graft into the core of the trich it was joined to, i just kept slicing till i found it still eating, i found another going down the centre of new growth on p.viridis. i should have kept one to get an id on, but at the time i was too freaked out, this was in early spring and i haven't seen any since.
