methylated spirits filth

Recommended Posts

brewed up some mexican poppy 5x with metho.

the crude extract did not have any metho smell, nor did the fortified leaf.

and yet the smoke has a distinct metho aftertaste which has sadly made me give up smoking it before i could really see what it was about - seems pretty good tho.

so my question is this: would an a/b be sure to remove all metho toxins?

thanks :)

its my belief it would as wen u extract with np solvent only freebase alkaloids come across hence no metho denaturants would come across. wot your tasting is probably the bitering agent in the metho yould could as an alternative rig up a small distillery like apparatus so that only stuff that evaps would come through leaving the bittering agent behind

At Dan Murphy's you can buy some stuff called Sprytis[sp?] that is something like 95% alcohol and is fit for human consumption. Its about $50 for half a litre bottle though.

you would want to recycle it using distilation for recovery instead of evaporation.

It's probably the denaturant you're tasting, they use a bittering agent that's very potent, almost to the same degree as an undistiled wormwood ethanol extraction.

You could use methanol or Specially Methylated Spirits, that's availabe at Pharmacies. This is 90% ethanol 10% methanol or slightly different ratios. But it's pure, no other chemicals in it.
