mescalito Posted December 10, 2004 Ouch, poor fella, calamine lotion helped me when I was a kid,but the worst part was trying to sit or lay down without bursting the buggers! The best part was laying around in our pool and skipping school.
nabraxas Posted December 11, 2004 calendula cream might be more effective, but try it on just a small patch for overnight first. otherwise calamine's the way to go. hope he gets well soon, kirsty has had it before? --if not, you probably know anyway, but she should goto see the doc. Jack Posted December 11, 2004 Kirsty isnt sure if she has had it nor is her mother, my gp said she should see her obst. and ask if she needs to be screened for varicella antibody. Other than that he seems in high spirits with christmas getting closer and closer, very exciting this year for him. The doctor put him on some antibiotics as some of the pox are infected and we dont want them to scar. anyways thanks for the replys. Peace

Tree Posted December 23, 2004 I had chicken pox as an adult and was told to steer clear of calamine lotion, as it tends to dry it out and make it more itchy. Use 'pinetarsol' (spelling?)- it comes in a soap or a lotion to soak in. Good luck take care
