To cut or not to cut?? What to do? 2 cresty occasions of propagative importance

oreocereus 'crest' the reverts seem to be winning... also this seemed (?) I am almost sure when I got it bare rooted,  like a seed grown cactus .

could it be cool idea to cut some of the regular growth to encourage crest growth??

should I eventually cut the cresting part to create the "clone" - after of course ensuring that its the part that is growing and that its big enough to root if cut....    !??! ?

please anyone with experience, I know that its different from plant to plant, but any thoughts are welcomed!

case 2:

I have almost decided to cut one and even two of these cresty branches. I am not really sure if its pecten-ab. or pringley, rather the former, but was bought as a pringley..

I was thinking a lot about the angles of the cut, as well as the fact that this should be repotted or soil-refreshed.
