Isolating flowers for selective pollination

Recommended Posts

What do you guys use to separate large trichocereus flowers from each other, so that you can selectively cross-pollinate the plants you choose, without insects doing unwanted pollination?... Bags?... Very fine net?...

Once more, Pergamine. You can cover them with large Pergamine bags. I hope you know what I mean...it´s this butterbread paper that you can get in the grocery store. You can cover the flower with a bag, though it´s sometimes a lil bit complicated.

I do one or two things, sometimes both.

1) after pollinating the pistal,I may cut off all the stamens & anthers so the bees etc are disinterested as there's no more pollen to be had and or I will tuck the pistil inbetween the sepals & petals, keeping it out of the main portion of the flower
