Di iso propyl ether safe disposal and the law

Hi everyone, I have a legal question for ya's, A freind of mine has stumbled across an OLD (20+yrs) bottle of di iso propyl ether and after reading about it on the net realise that this is potentially a dangerous thing to handle, as it forms explosive peroxides upon standing!

My friend really doesnt want to blow of fingers or put any others in danger so wants to dispose of it safely and responsibly. Does anyone know the laws regarding possesion of said chemical and how much drama it would be to have a chemical disposal company remove it?

This is in QLD by the way. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Call toxfree or whoever is your local hazardous materials disposal centre. They will come and collect it for a small fee. I wouldn't transport it in your car, on the off chance that you might have a car accident and break the bottle. They deal with this stuff all the time, just call them for a chat and you'll sort it out.

The response Alice gave would be about the only suitable response.

Flushing it would be illegal.

Burning it would be dangerous (and fun). may also be illegal

Evaporating it dangerous also.

Definitely call chemical salvagers.

the thing is, I have read that it can be dangerous to even move the bottle let alone open it! My friend is comforted by the fact that someone else transported it a couple of months ago with out anything happening. I will advise my friend to call the proper disposal companies and take it from there..
