Dilshan Posted July 15, 2014 Hi Guys, Is anyone interested in showing me a few spots for edible mushrooms around the surfcoast/otway region? New to the area and dont really know where to begin. I've been out a couple of times with no luck. Maybe head out one sat or sunday, there is a pub lunch in it for the tour guide! Cheers
Zen Peddler Posted July 15, 2014 gees mate almost getting towards the end of the season but there should be a few still about. Edibles grow in different areas though - I hear they have black trumpets down in the Otways. Otherwise most just stick to the pine trees for saffies, grey ghosts, and the like. Birchies are finished for the year.
NSF Posted July 16, 2014 Heaps of pine plantations in the Otways, although when I visited a year or so ago it was really under performing, found next to nothing!
Yawning Man Posted July 24, 2014 ^^^ What time of the year did you go nsf?
NSF Posted July 25, 2014 I went in June and it was a fraction late (too cold already)...also it was a bit of dry winter/autumn seemingly. 2014 has been a much better year for fungi than 2013 was.
