Amanita ??

Question

Hi all,

found this growing in a garden bed in Melbourne this morning. Looks like something has chewed it! But not sure if that's just the way it grows.

Anyone have an idea of what it could be? I thought maybe Amanita Lividopallescens but it doesn't quite look the same as pics of that one on the web.

it's about 6cm high and maybe 8cm diameter cap. In a garden bed that is shaded in the mornings. We've had a fair bit of rain last week, and now cold nights (12 c ) and sunny days of around ~20 - 23 c this week..

It looks very much like an amanita that grows in SA on MT Lofty. There are heaps of them there at the moment.

But yours has certainly been smashed by bugs quite a bit!

Maybe Amanita ananiceps... maybe... (BTW, I'm no expert!)

Here's a pic from last Friday 11/04/2014 from here in SA. Notice the way the veil starts to drip onto the ground below. Pretty cool looking. :)
