covering ground dwelling plants in plastic over winter

Recommended Posts

do you think it worth it to place a protective plastic wrap around the base of plants in the ground, so they don't necessarily get too wet over winter? good/bad/indifferent?

it's just been planted btw, and has a bit of rot up the base. wrong move planting it now probs but yolo right?

At my work we covered the soil surrounding a plant with black plastic. We also put perforated tubes under the plastic to create an air pocket so the soil can breath and dry out.

If it already has rot, personally i would dig it up.

cheers
